Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. – ALberT einsTein

Everyone connected to Unity not only carries hope for the future, but strives for solutions to the environmental problems we all face. They are learning, living, asking questions, getting answers and hoping for our collective futures. Check us out.

As more farmland in Waldo County is giving way to wooded areas, a new population is taking root – the awesome black bear. Unity students are seizing this incredible opportunity to study them up close and personal. Armed with ‘bear cams’ and tracking collars, our students are studying the habits and movements of these bears. Partnering with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Research Division, Unity students are providing valuable information to researchers and community members about all things black bear.

At Unity College our students “Can’t Stop. Won’t Stop.” In February, 30 Unity College students, faculty and staff along with 50,000 others told President Obama to move forward on climate change. Heralded as one of the biggest climate action rallies to take place in Washington, D.C., it was an opportunity for Unity students to walk the talk.

Taking core samples from the local lake, growing vegetables to encourage a healthier community, testing for arsenic in local water supplies— these are just a few ways Unity College students are making a difference in their community. Our students are seeking answers in the field that will benefit us all.

What would a world independent of fossil fuels be like? Our students are answering that question. Students living in TerraHaus, Unity’s answer to ultimate sustainable living, live a life fossil-fuel-free. For TerraHaus residents, keeping track of energy use is second nature. These students will help the world make sustainable living affordable and abundant.

Real-life superheroes exist—and Unity has them. They are the Unity College Search and Rescue Team. They are practicing what they learn in every day scenarios that, in some cases, save lives. And they’re doing this in their spare time. The team’s maturity, training and standards are coveted by the Maine Warden Service. They take this seriously. They are mature beyond their years. Go on, take a hike, Unity SAR has your back.

WE All HAvE A UnITY STORY TO TEll. WHAT’S YOURS?

We’re all connected. Unity’s 50th anniversary is just around the corner. Help celebrate by telling us your story about Unity. We’d love to hear it and pass it on. Send this card back or email us at [email protected].
