HIGHLIGHT EXHIBITION

To 16 March Bathurst Regional Art GallerySelby Warren (1887 – 1979) was a naïve painter who lived in the village of Trunkey Creek. He commenced painting in the 1960s after a life working the land. Warren’s ‘discovery’ and rise to prominence in the 1970s Sydney art scene is a fascinating story. Curator Roger Shelley explores the prolific career of Warren, an artist who uniquely pictured Australian folklore and the political culture of his times.A Bathurst Regional Art Gallery exhibition in partnership with the Sydney College of the Arts.www.bathurstart.com.au

HIGHLIGHT EVENT

Friday 28 March, 6pm-10pm, Saturday 29 March, 11am-4pm & 6pm-8pmSam’s Automotive, ORANGEThe Orange Regional Arts Foundation was established in 1984 by a committed group of locals to support and encourage activities in the Arts in the district. The aim of the group has been to support a vibrant cultural life, providing financial aid to the Regional Gallery, Library, Theatre and Conservatorium. As a result Orange stands out in regional Australia as a shining example of a pro-active, arts-rich community. In the past two years the Foundation has launched a new initiative, to encourage the next generation to maintain and develop Orange as a centre of artistic endeavour. As a result at least 12 younger members of the community have taken up the challenge, forming the POP ARTS Collective, with the aim of building a younger membership base for the Foundation and to raise general community awareness of the Foundation’s role. The group are driven by their own passion for the arts and plan a series of “pop up” arts events during 2014 to spread the word. The first event will be held at Sam’s Automotive, a warehouse on Peisley Street, on the weekend of 28-29 March.Friday 28th will be a dazzling party with food, wine and music, interior and exterior light installations and art auction, followed on Saturday by a fabulous line up of workshops featuring street art and dance. Plus photography and sculpture exhibitions and a coffee bar. In the evening “Art Late” will be held at the Regional Gallery. Further events will be scheduled throughout 2014.Kathy Snowball mob 0418 625 619, email [email protected]
