Scalability

Cloud Pod Architecture

Desktop Support

Windows 2012 R2 as a desktop OS

Customers can deliver a Windows 8.1 type user experience to end-users and achieve lower TCO through more favorable Microsoft licensing

Third-Party SSO

This feature enables 3rd-party SSO providers to access credential information when SSO is performed during a login to Horizon 6, allowing the 3rd-party solutions to be tightly integrated with Horizon 6.

Enhanced Message Security Mode

• Higher security between VMware Horizon components• SSL/TLS is used for all JMS connections. JMS access control is also enabled so

that desktops, security servers, and View Connection Server instances can send and receive JMS messages only on certain topics.

Virtual Hardware v11

• Horizon 6 now supports virtual hardware version 11, available in vSphere 6.0 or later versions. This feature is required for virtual machines that use NVIDIA GRID vGPU.

GPU

Federal Government

Several new features for U.S. Federal Government Customers.• IPv6 Support (Native only, no mixed with IPv4)• Common Access Card (CAC) support offers simple and secure access to virtual

desktops and applications for uniformed service personnel, and efforts to achieve Common Criteria certification are underway.

There’s More on the Horizon

• VMware Horizon for Linux – Red Hat and Ubuntu based desktops• Project Local – Allows virtual applications access to files on local hard

drives and folders• Project Arc - Project Ark demonstrates the flexible delivery of

published applications to Google Chromebooks through two separate methodologies – a clientless approach via an HTML5 browser and a client approach using a new lightweight Chrome client.
