A huge THANK YOU goes out to all families who came toour Open House in October! Our staff were very excitedto meet families of students and have the chance toshowcase what their classes have been learning.
November brings with it cool, crisp air and the everchanging fall colours. As we begin to prepare for thecolder months ahead, we are starting to see studentswearing their coats, hats, mittens and scarves. Way to go!
Along with the changing season, comes a chance to talkabout student learning. All educators and classroomteachers are available for parent-teacher interviews onNovember 17th and 18th to discuss student learningand progress. This month, the progress report cards willbe sent home on November 10th with all Grades 1-5students.
If you haven't already done so, please contact your child'seducator to schedule your interview so that you candialogue about your child's progress thus far. This is agreat way to show that HOME and SCHOOL worktogether to ensure the very best learning for ourstudents!

TIPS FOR BEING A SMARTTRICK-OR-TREATER
Halloween is a fun and exciting time, but
safety should be the number one concern.
Here are some safety tips for children:
*wear a costume that is bright and visible
*only visit homes that are welllit
*walk on the sidewalk and obey traffic and
pedestrian signals
*have adults check treats before eating
*go out with older siblings or an adult
*know your home phone number and how to
call 911 in case of emergency
School Spirit Day & Parade Oct. 31stStudents participating in the parade should come ready intheir fall clothing or costume. Families who will be viewingthe parade should do so from the tarmac. Students who arenot participating and have brought in a parental note willmeet in the library for alternative activities.

Coming This Month...Copeland students and staff willrecognize and honour First NationLand during morning announcementsThe Peel District School Board recognizes thatencouraging, inclusive and respectful environments helpstudents achieve to the best of their ability. As part ofthis important work, board trustees approved that thefollowing statement will be played or read each schoolday at all Peel schools and all boardhosted events priorto the Canadian national anthem:
We would like to acknowledge that we are on thetraditional territory of the Mississaugas of the NewCredit First Nation.
This acknowledgement recognizes Indigenous heritageand the importance of the land we are located on. Moreinformation about the history of the Mississaugas of theNew Credit First Nation will follow in coming weeks.

November 21-25 is BullyingAwareness & Prevention WeekCopeland will join other schools across Peel this
week to engage in education and discussion
about how to stand up against bullying.
Grade 3 Swim to SurviveAll Copeland students in grade 3 will
participate in the "Swim to Survive" program
throughout the year. The Lifesaving Society
aims to have every Grade 3 student in
Ontario achieve the Swim to Survive
Standard through a school grant program.
The board and pool owners/operators work
together to coordinate instructors, timings
and venues to support our students to obtain
this life skill.
Book Fair: November 14th - 17th
Mrs. Fleming has been busy in the library organizing
our Book Fair! Students can visit the book fair with
their classes to create their wish lists on November
10th and 11th, and can purchase books from
November 14th 17th. Families can visit and purchase
books from the book fair on the evening of November
17th during parentteacher interviews.
