What's Going On?
The Speedway Elite Issues forum was set up to ask questions and to obtain information
about the Speedway Elite's problems. So far very little information has been released since
this matter started. Jim and Mike have you spoken to Eyal on the Speedway Elite since he
made his original post on this matter? What's going on? We're not hearing anything on this
matter. Don't forget about us.

No doubt it's in the hands of the Attorneys,
and when all the I's are dotted, and T's are crossed,
they will release some kind of statement to the public.
All we can do at this point is wait, and see what develops.

Considering all said watches are being repaired, or money has been returned to the
customers who actually bought one, the customers are being taken care of as we speak. As
for their joint statement they will release it when they decide that they either know the
complete story or agree on a story that works for both companies. Since these two
companies may want to do business again with each other in the future be sure that they
will want anything said to reflect well on them. So if you're looking for a day to day update,
it probably isn't coming. What you think of Invicta's reputation may or may not matter to
them. But DD is not going to let their reputation as a small movement design house get
dragged through the mud by this issue. Either way the watches are being fixed. If you
bought one you are being taken care of.

Since it's almost been two weeks since Jim said that a statement was coming within a few
days ..... you would think that they could at least give an update.
The Speedway forum is looking more like a hardware store .... with all of those locks on
display.

Personal Perspective
If nothing else, what I HAVE learned from this Speedway incident is this:
PATIENCE is not Americans (USA) strong suit.
For whatever reason WE seem to expect IMMEDIATE results.
Whether it is the economy, war, elections, plane crashes, unexplained acceleration, oil spills,
hurricanes, driving in heavy traffic, whatever, as a Nation and as a culture we lack patience.
Other cultures, look at these things in the LONG TERM. They are willing to "wait" years to
reach the "end game". This same "philosophy" also drives many U.S. businesses and
industries (short term goals compared with long term goals).
Now don't get me wrong! I'm NOT saying we need to wait "years" for a resolution to the
problem, BUT it has only been one month since JIM posted the "options" to having the
Speedway "repaired" or "returned".
All I'm saying is MAYBE we can learn a "LITTLE" something from other cultures (Asian comes
to mind) in the area of patience, and maybe that's what the old saying is all about.
"Good things come to those that wait"
Or better yet and maybe more appropriate -
"A watched pot never boils!"

You are absolutely right A.J. .... for most of us, the only problem that we have with "Instant
Gratification" is that is just takes too darn long!
On the other hand, there is the issue of doing what you say you will do. Now, if they said
that a statement will be coming in 2 to 3 weeks .... that would be one thing .... but to say it
is coming in a few days, and then have two weeks of silence goes by with no word .... that
just adds fuel to the speculation and makes it look like they don't really care about the fact
that they are not doing what they promised.

We as Americans always seem to expect simple solutions to very complex questions--and I
am not necessarily talking about the watch question at hand.

I believe the problem is that an EXPECTATION was set and not met as opposed to Americans
being impatient. Had we received and update that the announcement would be delayed, we
wouldn't be reading this thread now.
Setting the expectation and failing to deliver is the problem.

All that needed to have been said is that a statement will be coming in the future. And after
the statement wasn't made after a few days as was suggested, another statement should
have been made ssaying that the statement will be taking a bit longer than expected.
Communication is utterly important and lack of it is irresponsible.

The wheels of justice move very slowly. Patience is a virtue. To give the benefit of the doubt
is divine. Hopefully these issues will resolve soon.

Oh, I get it! That $1,000 of hard-earned money people spent only to have nothing in their
hands, and now they want "instant gratification." How silly of them!

You either spent $1000 and got a watch that works great, or got a watch that needs to be
fixed THEN it will work great ..... nobody spent $1000 and now has nothing .... ???

Nothing for 6-8 weeks! BTW, very few complaints with that wait because it was expected
going in.

I don't understand what all this flapping about a statement really means. If you bought the
watch and it works properly, Great! If they are fixing a defective one, that's also great. So
what is the problem? I don't understand all the anguished hand wringing over some
irrelevant statement that has no impact on the final outcome.

Simply put ............ because they (Invicta & ShopNBC) said they would. It was their idea
about a statement not ours
If you're going to promise something you need to follow through with it or keep quiet.

Per Mr. Becker, Dubois-Depraz supplies their products to virtually everyone within the Swiss
watch industry. By this, presumably, Becker means Federation members. Now assuming Mr.
Becker's statements on the Speedway debacle aren't being made up out of wholecloth, and I
for one believe him implicitly when he alleges Dubois-Depraz was blindsided by this
deplorable situation, why do so many here assume there was or will be a business
relationship to protect between D-D and Invicta?
Unless we assume Dubois-Depraz's reticence going forward on the unfounded accusations
made about the integrity of their modules can be bought, what's in it for D-D to enter into
any kind of dealings with a lightning rod for controversy like Invicta? Why would a
Federation member take any step at all to rehabilitate a non-Federation member that has
treated them so shabbily?
Remember, Invicta's bluff has already been called. Despite all the guff we heard about base
plate issues and loud conversations, Invicta was very quick to totally exonerate Dubois. So
the equities are all one way, with D-D. One can imagine Dubois-Depraz leveraging a financial
settlement out of Invicta for its tawdry behavior, but what one cannot imagine is Invicta
extracting D-D's eternal silence on this scandal, let alone future purchase contracts for D-D
modules, for any amount of additional consideration. Without a guarantee of silence from
Dubois-Depraz, Invicta can't save face. I suggest this is why the long awaited bilateral
accounting of the facts is so overdue, that is, if one is so rash as to believe that D-D
committed themselves to any sort of "joint statement" in the first place.
