Basics:

� a common reference architecture that supports migration

� common basic communications (802.11p/3G/LTE)

� a core set of facility services

Create a set of C-ITS standards:Release 1 (I)

� initial applications (end-user services)

� ensure that there is a good alignment or known relationship between different standard terminologies (challenges for coherence / consistent conversion)

Necessity to support multiple media and various networking technologies as a consequence of the requirement for nearly ubiquitous connectivity of the various transport sector elements.

Additionally:

� Additional WIs to fill gaps

� Harmonization to create a single set of technically superior compatible standards

� Lifecycle management of ITS stations and the need for certification of

� Lifecycle management of ITS stations and the need for certification of ITS stations to allow the establishment of a level of trust among ITS stations

� Need to create the framework to allow secure operation of ITS stations, e.g. registries, regulations, policies, in a timely manner

� Establishing a single common data dictionary/registry for all these standards

CEN has a resolution to start a release process -ISO has a resolution to coordinate releases for the C-ITS domain.
