CONVENTION Dear franchise owners and associates,

As I am writing this review on the convention I would like to point out the following before I come to a conclusion:

Based on the fact that 200,000 population represents one (1) franchise territory, currently Dr Vinyl services 400 franchised territories with 269 franchisees and associates. Around 300 of these franchised territories (75%) where represented by the owners and associates at our 2019 DIVERSIFY Convention! That is outstanding! I really hope that next year, we can count on all franchise owners and associates to attend the annual event. It benefits the entire system when the majority is in

attendance.

The convention action felt good and motivating, the staff did a great job putting it all together, the hotel provided adequate

service and in my opinion the meals were good.

We would like to thank all attendees for letting us know well in advance (as early as November 2018) that they would be coming to convention. This enables us to negotiate good rates for rooms and other services with the venue. We also would like to thank the vendors who really tried to earn your business. They came with excellent product offers. I have to say that looking at the post convention orders, I’m disappointed that we did not do more by supporting the vendors with product

purchases. I’m not sure if they feel it’s worth their time to attend another convention.

We understand there is plenty of opportunity to buy products elsewhere, sometimes cheaper, however it’s kind of sad that after headquarters helps support quite a few associates starting their new business venture with extended payment options

or financing, that we hardly get any orders from the majority of these associates.

LOYALTY is one of the most important qualities in business relations. I would kindly ask you to reflect on how you would feel after helping a customer on a Saturday afternoon or by giving him a 60 - 90 day payment term, to come back to that customer and see a competitor getting the work you were doing because their price is slightly less expensive. I under-stand the franchise agreement does not require you to buy all your products from HQ, but by doing so, it helps the buying power for the Dr. Vinyl Parts department which in turn keeps prices low for all franchise associates. Is that not a great fea-

ture of our franchise?

Bottom line, don’t forget your Parts Department. Don’t forget the vendors that support your business by spending time and money at our convention & throughout the year to earn your business. Please keep that in mind when you make your

decision to purchase products elsewhere. We would really appreciate that.

Thank you for being with the Dr. Vinyl family! Richard ReindersRichard ReindersRichard ReindersRichard Reinders————CEOCEOCEOCEO

Top Sales by Region

Western Northern Midwest Southern Eastern

January 2019

Effective immediately, we will no longer recognize Individual High Sales in the newsletter for associates that do not separate total sales by service. For example, if your total sales for the month include interior repair services, upholstery repair services and wheel refinishing services, the sales for each service must be separated on the monthly recap we receive at corporate. All totals featured in the newsletter are compiled directly from the monthly recaps submitted to corporate by franchise owners. If the franchise owner does not list individual sales on the recap, you will not be featured in the newsletter.

Attendance, Participation & INVOLVEMENT

Everyone that attended, participated and was involved in this con-

vention in one way or another (as a guest, participant, demonstra-

tor, etc.) made this past convention an extremely special one. We,

the HQ-Staff, agree—the highlight of this past convention were

our attending owners and associates!!!

The best moments and highlights of this past convention from the HQ-Staff’s point of view. Feel free to tell us about your favorite (or least favorite) moments and what we could do better to make the next convention even more enjoyable to you! Send your feedback to [email protected]

VENDORS

We had close to 20

Vendors attending this past Convention.

Vendors that were completely new to the

Dr. Vinyl group had a chance to introduce

themselves and Vendors that are already part of Dr. Vinyl had a chance to strengthen their rela-tionship with many Dr. Vinyl and the Doctor’s

Touch technicians and to introduce their newest products on the market.

We think the vendor-attendance was

another great highlight of the

InteriorDemonstrations&ProductsOfConvention2019

FOG IT: You’ve heard the big news at Convention—Fog It is now officially not only a deodorizer anymore but also a sanitizer! Use this new sales point for your new accounts or the ones that were still hesitating about odor removals.

Also, don’t purchase double as much fog-it’s as you need. Bob Borron, Associate of Kansas City, MO, showed us a way to get better results from the fog-it system with only using one tablet instead of both. Use a fish-air-supply-hose when you do an odor removal and get better results with only half the product. For detailed instructions please give me a call!

VINYL SIDING & VINYL FLOORING

Just in time for the hail season spreading out throughout the country we had Doug Hancock, Associate of Omaha, Nebraska, freshen up our Vinyl Siding skills and showing us the best ways to do vinyl siding repairs.

One of my personal favorites, Vinyl Flooring Repairs, where demonstrated by Clifton Gentry, Dr. Vinyl of Southeastern Idaho, who showed us that no matter what the flooring pattern is—we can fix it!

Vinyl Siding and Vinyl Flooring Repairs are a profitable add-on for all Dr. Vinyl technicians. Do not miss out on this lucrative opportunity to increase your sales. If you missed the vinyl siding or vinyl flooring repair demo at convention and you need a fresh-up on how to do these unique repairs do not hesitate to give me a call with questions about the procedure.

STAIN REMOVAL: We saw a lot of very effective stain removal techniques and products this past convention. Bill Hubbard, Associate of Indianapolis, IN, and

Chris Oesterling, Dr. Vinyl of Michigan demonstrated, what they found is the most effective organic stain remover recipe! Lisa Farley, Dr.

Vinyl of Fond Du Lac, demonstrated the Cyclone tool for an extra quick way to clean large areas and Nanoskin Products demonstrated their favorite cleaners and stain removal solutions.

If you have questions about Bill’s and Chris’ recipe and want the full mixing instructions or you would like to have the Link on where to buy the Cyclone please send me an email and I will forward all the information to you. If you would like to find out more about Nanoskin visit www.nanoskinusa.com and check with Tony in the parts department on what is available through Dr. Vinyl!

TIPS AND TRICKS: This all-time-favorite demo-session by Brian Greenfield, Dr. Vinyl of Green County, OK was sure one of the most profitable ones for all of you that like to make things easier, quicker and better!

DURAMEND REFINISH COATINGS: One of my personal highlights of the 2019 Convention. I was very impressed by their products, especially the Red Base Fill and the Leather Glue! Personally I will of course continue using Viper-Products but I will definitely add Duramend Refinish Coatings to my Interior Invento-ry as well! I’m glad Milton and Jerry were able to demonstrate their products to a lot of our Dr. Vinyl technicians!

VIPER PRODUCTS: As always, Tom Piontek from Viper Products had a wide variety of new products and all-time-bestsellers. My favorite was the new cordless airbrush as well as his Polycryl Dye System (which I had already seen prior to convention).

NANOSKIN: A brand-new vendor that serves the exterior as well as the interior side of our business. I really like their pet hair removal stone and their magic hand soap! However, they had a lot of other products that impressed me, like the rain glass sealant and their Nourish Leather & Vinyl Condi-tioner & Cleaner.

WHEELS FOR INTERIOR: Another service that I think every Interior Technician should consider doing. As demonstrated and explained by Todd Lester, Dr. Vinyl of

Central Texas, you probably already have most of the stuff you need in your van. With little initial supply cost you can make a lot of extra money by adding wheel refinishing to your services!

DISCUSSIONS, DISCUSSIONS, DISCUSSIONS!!! My absolutely favorite thing about conventions is techs getting together and talk! They exchange ideas, talk about procedures, products, add-on services, sales tips, and so much more! Some of our Discussion Rounds were moderated, others just developed. And that is amazing. The up-holstery-discussion turnouts where great and Mitchell Reid, Nina Greenfield, Steve Gwadera, Todd Lester and all other Moderators did a great job in keeping the talk going. What a success!

Thank you all for attending, forgive me for running out of room/seats at the most popular sessions! Teresa Lang

The Thursday night hospitality gathering was a great time for catching up with old friends and make a few new ones. As always Vicky and Teresa did a great job.

For the paint repair tech’s , Friday was fantastic. There were a lot of things to see and do.

⇒ A big thanks to Doug Hancock, Dr. Vinyl of Omaha, Nebraska, for informing all of us about the importance of sensor calibration. This will be a up and coming neces-sary service that we as paint repair tech’s will at the very least, need to be aware of.

⇒ Next we had a very good demonstration from Nanoskin products. Great stuff.

⇒ We also had product demo’s from Speedocoat. They had some very good things to show us.

⇒ Thank’s to Richard Tyler, Dr. Vinyl San Antonio, TX, for his awesome demo on the benefits of polishing and detailing your customers vehicles. Thanks Richard.

⇒ Chris Hawkins, Dr. Vinyl of The Cumberlands, TN and his team did a very good demo on how they do wheel repairs and refinishing. Thanks to you Chris.

The day was all in all a big success.

Thanks to all of you that took the time to come to your convention and hopefully

you came away with some thing that will make you more money.

The entire crew from our franchise in Tennessee had a great time and learned a lot at this year’s convention. We were spread out over the entire gamut of trades. We had people learning about interior tips and tricks, upholstery how to classes, as well as exterior paint and wheel refinishing. It was very helpful and informative to all our techs that attended. We were especially appreciative to all the one on one discussions that we had with fellow owners and techs about their experiences in the field. The vendor room provided a great source of supplies for all our needs. We were especially happy to see more options in the paint and vinyl departments. Speedokote is great to work with, we know firsthand. We look forward to working with some of our own like Steve Biggerstaff and Jason McCurdy when dealing with our future Upholstery Vinyl needs. It was an all around great experience.

The two highlights of the convention for me was the group discussions led by Dr. Oesterling from Michigan and Bill Hubbard’s “Red Shirt Chronicles”. I think we should make both of these regular events at all future conventions. They were both highly motivating experiences.

Thanks for all the hard work from the entire corporate staff that made the convention possible. Special thanks to Buster, Teresa, Vickie, Tony, Darrell, Steve, and Richard for making our group of Country Boys feel at home in the Big City. We greatly appreciate all of your outstanding efforts.

We are eagerly awaiting Convention 2020!

MITCHELL REID, Associate of The Cumberland, TN

RICHARD TYLER, Dr. Vinyl of San Antonio, TX

Best Convention to date I always attend because I always learn something new.

PHILIP NEUMEIER, Associate of Indianapolis, IN

Enjoyed it immensely. Banquet food needs to be served hotter. Would like to see more Vendors. Sessions were very informative. Other hotel services were fine.

Richard Reinders and the HQ-Staff did a remarkable job in putting together a most informative and pleasurable event.

Everyone I spoke with said this was one of the best conventions ever.

JOSEPH OESTERLING, Dr. Vinyl of Michigan

You Did It Again!! Another great convention! Thanks to all the franchise owners and associ-ates that made the trip to Kansas City, MO.

Convention 2019 was the first in a while of doing things like we use to. A full 2 & 1/2 days of sharing information, fun entertainment on Friday night, powerful presentations and demonstrations put on by owners & associates, tasty meals and last but not least, capping it all off with a much deserving award presentation. All in all, the annual event was extremely educational and motivating for all in attendance. For those of you that were not able to attend, I will try to share with you some of the exciting mo-ments of convention. ♦ The Owners Only Meeting—Very informative information from Richard Reinders. I won’t

elaborate, their will be more on that later. ♦ The Hospitality Room—Thanks to Vickie Borron, Dr. Vinyl Corporate staff member, for com-

ing up with this great idea years ago. This is the perfect opening socializing event for everyone to mingle amongst each other, visit with associates you haven’t seen in a while, all while enjoying snacks and beverages. It was a perfect setting!

♦ Vendor Room—The vendor room featured twenty different vendors showcasing their products. Multiple interior repair companies such as Viper Products and Duramend Products who both had plenty of repair fillers, compounds and specialty tools for repairing or refinishing vinyl, leather and plastics and so much more. We also had the exterior covered with companies such as SpeedoKote, PPG and Burke and associates, showing off the superfast clearcoats, primers, sand-papers and other paint related products and tools. The vendor room was full of excitement.

♦ Demos, Demos and more Demos— Some of the best information we’ve ever given to fran-chise owners and associates actually comes from other franchise owners and associates. In my opinion, they are the best person to inform you on what works, how it works and when it works in the field. I would like to thank all the owners & technicians that help with the Auto Paint Repair, Interior Repair, Wheel Repair and Upholstery Repair demonstrations. Many technicians believe that there is more than one way to fix a bumper, paint a wheel or repair some leather. Sure enough, the Dr. Vinyl & The Doctors Touch demonstrators proved that point again and again and again at this years convention.

A special thank you to Joe Oesterling-Dr. Vinyl of Michigan, Janet Pribble-Dr. Vinyl of In-dianapolis, Bill Hubbard and Rick Prickel—Associates of Indianapolis for their awesome presentations. Joe & Janet’s presentation titled “Maximize Productivity Amongst Col-leagues” and Bill & Ricks’ presentation titled “Getting New Business”, was our featured presen-tations. They did not disappoint. They all did an excellent job in communicating what works for them in their business and how each of you can do the exact same thing. Of course the feedback from other partners made the meeting even more informative. It’s all of you that help make this convention the great success that it was. Thank you so very much! Again, thank you to everyone who attended this year, and we look forward to seeing you and many more owners and associates at the next convention!
