Post-show Q&A

Like an hour with good friends—who just happen to have impeccable taste in tunes—this is a show that keeps to the beat of the human heart.

TZU’s Joelistics and ARIA-nominated producer James Mangohig are icons of Australian hip-hop, but their family histories are as complex and layered as their lyrics. Both half-Asian, their respective heritages are woven through their experiences growing up in Australia.

From a nightclub-owning grandma in an open marriage to globetrotting parents with a political streak, the pair lovingly paint a canvas filled with failed proposals and religious strictures, casual racism and empowerment through music.

Searching for the family songs that were sung around the kitchen table, Jessie Lloyd explores the day to day life on the missions, settlements and reserves through music. From cultural identity to love and loss, these rare songs consist of almost forgotten stories that can now shed light into the history of our indigenous elders, families and communities.

This Project faithfully explores the musical journey of indigenous Australian music as the Mission Songs Quartet connects the traditional with contemporary.

This performance will be accompanied by special guests Andean folk band Inka Marka performing sections of the Misa Criolla.

Jim Cartwright’s timeless comedy TWO introduces a misfit crowd of fourteen eccentric characters.

Set in the local pub, you’ll meet all the regulars. There’s Moth, who loves Maud (and every other woman) fervently; Mrs Iger, with her passion for quiet, strong men; possessive Roy, jealous of anybody who looks at Lesley (even the darts players); Alice and Fred and their Elvis obsession; and the publicans themselves – a married couple with an unspoken secret…

At times funny, heart-warming and poignant, don’t miss this smash hit comedy.

“ At times poignant, sad and funny, this will warm the cockles of your heart. Another pint please…”

Bob Dylan and Tom Petty made history when they joined forces for one of the greatest concert tours of all time, on their True Confessions Tour of 1986. Re-live that incredible line up of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks as DYLANesque, the creators of the much-acclaimed show The Bob Dylan Story bring you True Confessions Revisited, taking inspiration from that legendary tour.

Jeff Jenkins and his five-piece band will have you rocking out to Running Down a Dream, American Girl, The Waiting, Refugee, Like a Rolling Stone, Hard Rain, Tombstone Blues, House of the Rising Sun and many other Dylan and Petty hits.

“ Jenkins not only understands His Bobness, he inhabits him.”

Big Picture FestFrankston city centre’s skyline is being transformed, thanks to the Big Picture Fest returning to Frankston on 18-24 March 2019.Last year the inaugural three-day festival in March brought the community together with experienced street artists, who were commissioned to transform unused walls in high profile locations across Frankston’s city centre.

Headlined by a significant piece by world-renowned street artist Smug from Glasgow, the project has been an overwhelming success and brought a world of new colour to the streets of Frankston.

Large scale master pieces from Loretta Lizzio, Dvate, Tristen Kerr, Lucy Bonnin, Zedr, Order 55 and Smug have added to the local mural works and graffiti art that is splashed throughout the heart of the city.

Keep up to date on events, artwork locations and artists on thebigpicturefest.com and Frankston City Council Facebook and Instagram.
