The Longest Night
Christmas holds such promise for all people. At the same time, many dread the approaching Yuletide as anxiety and depression often accompany the season. It is for this rea-son that Methodist Temple is inviting you to join us for a very special Advent service called The Longest Night. This year, our theme is Let Come the Light. It is our hope that those experiencing any kind of sadness during the holidays might be comforted and encouraged as we med-itate together on the dawning light of God’s love in the midst of the darkness. If you find yourself in need of hope, please join us for this special service on December 11th at 7:00 p.m. right here in the Sanctuary.
27NOVEMBER
Homeless Drive
Methodist Temple is hosting a drive during the month of November to provide much needed items to the organi-zations empowering the homeless community in our city. A complete list of the needed items and more information about the drive can be found at Connection Central.
Methodist Temple will be gathering these items November 7 – December 17. All donated items should be dropped off at Connection Central in the bin marked “Fighting Homelessness: Donation Drive.”
The Littlest Christmas Tree
“The Littlest Christmas Tree“ is a mini-musical presented by the 3-5 year old Sunday School class, Temple Sproutz. The Sproutz and a few Temple Totz(Nursery age) will share the story of a special little fir tree longing to be part of a family’s Christmas celebration. Please plan to join the youngest members of our church family as we welcome Jesus into our hearts and homes this Christmas! The mini-musical will take place between services on Decem-ber 4th in the Fellowship Hall. Refreshments will be served following the program.
Christmas Caroling
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loud for all to hear!” Join us this holiday season as we spread some Christmas cheer around Evansville on Sunday, De-cember 4th. The evening will kick off at the church at 5:00 p.m. for pizza. We will leave the church by 6:00 p.m. to begin caroling. We’ll break into several groups: walkers and drivers. We’ll meet back at the church by 7:00 p.m. for cookies and hot chocolate. Please bring your favorite cookies to share. The nursery will be open for Temple Totz ages 0-3 years old.
