IntroductionIf you have never been invited to an Indian wedding then you might be curious to know about what happens at Indian weddings. In this presentation we would show you what you can expect at an Indian wedding.

What You Should Wear?At an Indian wedding, you would see most women wearing traditional Indian sari or lengha while men would be normally wearing kurtas and sherwanis. For women it is normally the case of brighter the better. Women usually wear bold colors. If you are a men and you don’t have any traditional Indian clothes then you can wear a suit as well. You will not be the only one who would be wearing suit at an Indian wedding since many Indians too prefer to wear suits at weddings. However a great majority would be in traditional Indian clothes.

EventsA normal Indian wedding usually lasts three days. On the first night, the priest would perform different religious ceremonies. These ceremonies usually are performed at home with only the couple and close relatives are present at the moment. Then there would be a mehndi ceremony on the second day of the festivities. A this event music and dancing is arranged for the family and friends of the bride and groom. On the third day main reception dinner takes place. You can be invited on all three days on any one day as per your invitation.

What You Would See?Indian wedding are famous for glorious decorations and a centerpiece. The groom arrives with a procession usually on a decorated white horse. The guests dance around him. After that the family of the bride greet the groom and an exchange of flower garlands that has to be wear around the neck takes place. This means symbol of acceptance in an Indian wedding. You will also see a very common ritual where the couple would join hands and would circle around a small enclosed fire. In the end, the groom would apply a red powder to the bride’s forehead and then tie a necklace around her neck which means that the couple is married now.
