What is it?
• Mini interview with one of your PE teachers.
• It is worth 10% of your final GCSE mark.
• Must be on the sport you chose for your PEP.
• It is made up of five sections.
• You must show a clear knowledge of rules and regulations in your chosen sport and be able to apply them.
Questions: When is a throw in illegal in football?Describe a correct underwater stroke in a breaststroke start.
• You must show a clear understanding of technical terms in your sport.
Understand: the offside rule, a ruck, streamlined, zone defence, tie-break.
Rules, Regulations and Terminology
• You should be able to observe a performer in your chosen sport and analyse accurately what skills he/she is doing well with detail.
• Think about:- Break the skill down (preparation, execution,
follow through).- Talk about many different areas e.g. different
areas of fitness, tactics, communication, attack, defence.- Say why that skill is effective
Observation and Analysis
• Evaluate your own and others STRENGTHS and AREAS for IMPROVEMENT in detail.
• Similar to section 2, but also self assess.Break down your skill. (E.g. BLABT in swimming.)Talk about all areas (e.g. areas of fitness, mental focus)Be technical
• Compare yourself and others to the PERFECT MODEL.
Evaluation: Recognising strengths and weaknesses
PEP•You should have good knowledge from all areas of your PEP.
•Be able to talk about methods of training you would use to improve a skill.
•Understand the Principles of Training and why they are important.
•Explain practices and tactics which can improve a team’s / individuals performance.
• Identify different leadership roles in a club or team. Explain the importance of the roles and their responsibilities.
• For example a premiership football team has: a captain, a manager, a coach, physiotherapists, club secretary, treasurer, chairman, nutritionists etc.
• For TOP marks explain different leadership styles which can improve / hinder performance.
