WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

STUDENT CONDUCT AND ATTENDANCE POLICY

LATHROP TECHNOLOGY MAGNET SCHOOL

BEHAVIORS TO CHOOSE IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL!

BE PREPARED FOR SCHOOL (classroom materials, textbook, calculator etc..)

Use your agenda to write down all your homework in red ink and to communicate between your teachers and your parents

Organize your notebook and backpack weekly (or daily if needed!)

Stay for help with classroom teachers, computer lab, Think Together,& at the library before school, lunch, or after school.

If you have a problem with another student or at home etc… tell a teacher/counselor, administrator, or other adult on campus.

Be appropriately dressed for school by being in uniform everyday (College Day on Wed. & Spirit Day on Friday!)

GET INVOLVED IN ACTIVITIES / INTRAMURAL SPORTS

ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT!

ONLY EXCUSED ABSENCES WILL BE ACCEPTED:

Illness—High fever, vomiting, diarrhea, accident with injury

Quarantine---Like H1N1 Medical/dental appointment (FOR

THE APPOINTMENT TIME ONLY,THEN RETURN TO SCHOOL!)

Funeral services of member of your immediate family

Court appearance involving YOU!

ALL OTHER ABSENCES ARE CONSIDERED UNEXCUSED AND CAN RESULT IN REFERRAL TO SART, SARB AND TRUANCY LETTERS HOME

CONDUCT WHILE AT SCHOOL-----

Demonstrate acceptable behavior in the classroom, on the school grounds and on the way to and from school.

Follow all directions of the classroom teacher and other school staff. Do not disturb others! Do not leave class.

Complete work assigned and missed work due to absences

Attend class ON TIME and EVERY DAY unless you are on an excused absence.

CONDUCT WHILE AT SCHOOL

AT NO TIME: Make any threat to commit, attempt to commit, or commit any physical

violence against school personnel or other students Deface, damage, destroy, steal, or litter school district property or the

property of other persons (INCLUDES STINK BOMBS AND/OR POPPERS)

Use profane or vulgar language or make obscene or suggestive gestures

Loiter (hang around) on or near school grounds Use, possess, or distribute tobacco, any controlled substance (including

marijuana), narcotics alcohol or intoxicants, or any weapons on a school campus or at times when I am under the supervision of the school

No “Look-Alike” weapons (toy or plastic weapons)! Possess or distribute “look-alike” drug substances or drug paraphernalia

(pipes, lighters, rolling papers) Participate in hazing (dangerous dares/initiations) Bring any form of electronic devices (portable DVD, IPODS, CD players

etc…)

CONSEQUENCES IF YOU CHOOSE THESE BEHAVIORS

CONFERENCES WITH ADMINISTRATORS AND PARENTS

BEHAVIOR CONTRACTS DETENTION SCHOOL BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM SUSPENSION POLICE ACTION PUPIL PLACEMENT COMMITTEE EXPULSIONNEW DISTRICT POLICY: If you are suspended or up for expulsion or PPC, you will be attending the district’s discipline center for the duration of your

consequence! To the ARC you go! No staying home!

Dress Code Reminder

Clothing Any solid color, collared shirt (no logos, stripes or other print) (Lathrop logos

are OK) For Girls: All buttons except the top (neck) button must be buttoned; Only regular polos---no fashion variations allowed. For Boys and Girls: All shirts must cover the top of pants. For Boys: Undershirts must be tucked in at all times.

Tan/khaki, black, or navy blue pants, shorts, skirts, etc. No jeans or denim-type material!!! No sweatpants, basketball shorts, or leggings.

Modest clothing with correct fit (appropriate length, not revealing, not baggy or tight) Boys are not to sag pants. Underwear must be covered

Closed toe shoes at all times

Jackets: Sweatshirts, jackets, sweaters, vests may be worn over the polo shirt, but the polo shirt must be visible. If hooded sweatshirts are used, the hoods must be down or the sweatshirt will be confiscated and must be picked up by parents.

College/university Day on Wed., and Spirit Day on Fri.

Dress Code Reminder

Reminder: Failure to keep hood down on sweatshirt will result in loss of hooded sweatshirt privilege.

HairWell groomed, clean, and out of eyes No spiked hair, shaved sides, or shaved designsBoys: No shorter than #2; no shaved heads.Eyebrows cannot be shaved or notched.Hair must be a natural hair color.

Dress Code Reminder

Accessories and Make-upBelt should be worn for clothes with belt loopsNo initial belt buckles, or spiked or

studded/metal button belts or other accessories.

No large or excessive jewelry (earrings no larger than a quarter). Accessorize, but keep to a minimum!

No tongue or facial piercing allowed!No hats or head-covering (except for religious

reasons)No excessive make-up for young ladies!
