YOU’RE A FRAUD! (AND OTHER LIES)
Who do you think you are? Brene Brown’s Gifts of ImperfectionStories: Game-Changer, Perfect
Harvard Professor Amy Cuddyhttp://www.cbsnews.com/news/amy-cuddy-strikes-a-power-pose/
Be YOU. From Courage to Teach: Who you are leaks out of your whether you want it to or not. Be the best YOU...don’t even try to be someone else. My example...I’m not techie; I’m a teacher/communicator. I’m aware.
“According to Timothy Wilson, professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, the human brain receives 11 million bits of information per second from the environment, but can only process 40 bits per second.”http://goodthinkinc.com/wharton-school-nano-tool-2-reduce-noise/

“CONTROL THE WAY YOU POSITIVELY AFFECT THE ENVIRONMENT”
Your attitude truly matters. 90 secBehave as if it’s all awesome. Research shows you can directly affect your behavior and feelings follow. Act like it’s all good...pretty soon it’s all good. Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project
Tell them what to expect. Don’t leave them wondering what’s happening.
Not going well…start laughing.
We’re all human… Resetting worry - like charging a modern battery - hit lower and upper limits
DO THESE
DOsTell stories; it helps the info stick
Be passionate
Use metaphors and anything you have to put the pieces all together
Practice
Show your personality… and move your body! People automatically respond better when you do!
Involve everyone
Use HUMOR. Laughter is awesome!
WHY HUMOR????
A research study found that “students who experienced laughter-inducing humor prior to taking a creativity test performed twice as well as students who didn’t.” The Journal of Educational Psychology
Do expect them to be on devices.

DON’T DO THESE
Neglect visuals. clean, clear, creative and complimentary to your presentation--not the whole presentation. Don’t read to them!
Don’t assume the audience understands…
Be offended if people leave. There may be any number of reasons that have nothing to do with you. Some people are “session hoppers” even in fabulous sessions like ours.
Don't show your nerves. Sweaty brows, dry mouths, and a few presenters who talked too fast and rushed through their presentations. These are all obvious signs of nerves, and completely understandable given the situation.
SO MRS. LINCOLN, HOW WAS THE PLAY?
Make your agenda more important than what is happening in the room/world. (Boston Marathon bombing, Ed and 9/11, teachers who can’t keep up)
Don’t freak out when things go wrong. Use it as a way to show teachers how to react if this happens in the classroom. (Plan B)
