Barberton Elementary

West is very lucky to

have our very own School

Resource Officer. Not all

elementary schools are

fortunate enough to have

School resource offic-

ular police officers...they

can respond to calls,

make arrests and docu-

ment any incidents.

SROs should be used a

resource for students,

parents, teachers and

administrators.

We are lucky to have Of-

ficer Kenneth Cheatham

at BEW as our Student

Resource Officer. Officer

Cheatham comes to us

with 18 previous experi-

ence as a SRO at Barber-

ton High School. Prior to

that, he spent 7 years on

the police force at the

Barberton Police Depart-

ment. Officer Cheatham

is a graduate of BHS and

his two daughters are

graduates of BHS. He is

committed to making

Barberton a safer place.

Officer Cheatham brings

his friendly smile and

encouraging words to our

students at BEW. He

partners with admin-

istration and our counse-

lors to coach students in

situations. Sometimes,

he is asked to do home

visits to check on resi-

dency or attendance con-

cerns. His favorite part

of the day, however, is

joining our students for

lunch in the cafeteria. He

likes to talk to our students

our students about “See

Please know, if you ever

have a concern, you can

always come talk to Officer

Cheatham! He is the eyes

and ears of our school!
