However, many European nations were committing to the policy of imperialism and conquering/controlling foreign land.

wife of Austria-Hungary were assassinated by Serbians.

most other nations… having biggest military and most weapons…

the investigation of the murder of Francis Ferdinand.
Alliances in Europe were mobilized as the 1st world war began.
