What is The Language Flagship?Language Flagship is a national effort to change the way American studentslearn languages through a groundbreaking approach to foreign language ed-ucation. The Flagship community is made up of 27 domestic Flagship cen-ters and programs at 23 institutions of higher education, 10 OverseasFlagship Centers, and three K–12 investments. The program leads the nationin designing, supporting, and implementing a new paradigm for advancedlanguage education. As an innovative partnership between the federal gov-ernment and the education community, The Language Flagship graduatesstudents with a superior level of proficiency in languages critical to U.S. na-tional security and competitiveness, who will take their place among the nextgeneration of global professionals.

2 weeks of flexible, personal 1-on-1 online tutoring

Flagship K-12 Blended Learning Pilot Project

The Hunter Chinese Flagship Program and the Jericho SchoolDistrict have received a grant from the Language Flagship tobuild a national model for K-12 students to learn Chinese.

This approach has been implemented at Hunter with proven re-sults. The goal is to create a model blended-learning program thatwill enable students to reach advanced-level proficiency by thetime they graduate from high school.

We accept applications on rolling basis so that students may join this program throughout the year.
