Hyperloop is the 5th mode oftransportation, a high-speedtrain that travels in a near-vacuum tube. The reduced airresistance allows the capsuleinside the tube to reach speedsof more than 1000 km/h,conveying people or objects athigh speed while being veryefficient, thereby drasticallyreducing travel times overmedium-range distances. ElonMusk, founder of SpaceX,proposed the idea ofHyperloop to the world in2013 through whitepaper -Hyperloop Alpha.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
SpaceX organizes theHyperloop Pod Competitionin order to accelerate thedevelopment of functionalprototypes and encouragestudent innovation. Fewselected teams build asubscale prototype of thePod to demonstratetechnical feasibility of thevarious aspects of theHyperloop concept. In thisglobal competition, the finalround (testing andevaluation of the actualprototype), takes place atthe SpaceX Headquarters inHawthorne, California, USA.The Fastest Pod wins theCompetition!
• We are a group of highly enthusiastic
engineering students from IIT Madras,
spearheading the college's attempt at
this competition.
• In 2017, we began our journey
determined to set a benchmark through
the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod competition.
In our first attempt, we propelled as one
among the 47 teams selected globally to
be qualified for the Final Design Round.
• In the following year, 2019, we
managed to reach the Final Round of
the competition, standing among the
Top 21 Finalists, while being the only
one from the Asian Continent.
WHO ARE WE?
Being a part of one of the largest student
competitions in the world was indeed an
experience to cherish for all the 27 team
members. Moreover, being the only Asian
team gave themembers, a feeling of pride and
an opportunity to represent India at a global
platform such as SpaceX Hyperloop Pod
Competition. Avishkar Hyperloop, in its
maiden appearance, finished as one of the
Top 10 teams in the world. Indeed, it couldn’t
be termed as our best performance, yet a
great debut, nonetheless. We, being the only
Asian Team, were at the centre of focus for
many spectators, and more importantly we
received quite a lot of helpful connects and
suggestions from other teams as well.
