What is Ecology?The study of the interactions

of organisms with one another and with their

environment.

What is environment?Environment is anything that

affects an organism. This would include the

surroundings of a living thing.

SPI 0607.2.3Identify the biotic and abiotic

elements of the major biomes.

Parts of an EnvironmentAn environment can be divided into two parts:

Biotic and Abiotic

Abiotic vs Biotic Foldable•On the top part, draw a picture of a neighborhood park, including 5 biotic and 5 abiotic factors

•Under each flap on the lines, define Biotic and Abiotic.

•On the back of each flap write living or nonliving

Biotic:Biotic – describes the living elements in the environment including plants, animals, and bacteria

Abiotic:Abiotic – describes the nonliving parts of the environment including rocks, temperature, light, and water
