What is CARBON ?

What does it have to do with

MY FOOTPRINT???

what does any of that have to do with GLOBAL WARMING???

SO WHAT DOES CARBON DIOXIDE HAVE TO DO WITH

SAVING THE PLANET???

Carbon is an ATOM…

what is an ATOM?

NO MATTER HOW YOU CUT IT,

A PIECE OF CHEESE IS STILL A PIECE OF CHEESE

A molecule that contains more than one element is a COMPOUND

A BASIC SUBSTANCE that cannot be simplified is an ELEMENTFLAVORS OF ICECREAM

An ATOM is the smallest unit of an element

A SCOOP: SMALLEST

AMOUNT OF ICE CREAM I CAN BUY

A MOLECULE is two or more atoms chemically joined together

A CONE: MORE THAN ONE SCOOP

OF THE SAME KIND OF ICECREAM

DIFFERENT FLAVORS

SO HOW MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF ELEMENTS ARE THERE????

Page 8: What is carbon and why is it important?

Before there were plants or animals on the Earth, carbon dioxide levels were about 80 percent of the earths atmosphere.

But with the evolution of organisms that reduced these levels, the Earth became a place that could sustain life.

However now, studies have shown that due to human industrial activities have pushed carbon dioxide levels higher than they have been in 650,000 years and likely millions of years.

Balancing ActLeft to cope with the changing environment the Earth has responded by changing features of its biosphere, such as temperature, thus resulting in global warming.

Plants are being destroyed and the industrial systems are steadily increasing.

This in turn increases the amount of carbon emissions into the atmosphere
