What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this

product?

What technologies did I use?

 Digital camera

I also learnt that it takes about 30 photographs to take a good photo.

I used a digital camera to take pictures for my magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread. Because it was digital rather than a traditional camera it meant I was able to transfer the images via SD memory card straight onto the computer. I learnt how to focus the camera properly to get a decent image. I had never used a camera like this before so it took some getting used too.Because it was a good quality camera it helped me when it came to the editing stage of the photo’s in Photoshop. Here is a medium close up shot I took in focus with the digital camera.

Here is a medium longshot I took out of focus with the digital camera.

Camera lighting

I learnt about the importance of camera lighting and how it can change the facial features of a person and how it makes a photo look more professional. I experimented with natural lighting (pictures against wall above) and against a white background with artificial added light to give the effect of the facial features I wanted.

Mac Computer

I had never used a Mac computer before but it came in handy as it had already got the programmes I needed to used installed onto the computer also it saved time because every time I logged off and back on again the programmes I was last using came back up so I could automatically start using them again.

It took me a while to get used to learn how to copy and paste. Highlighting the section and then to copy: While holding down the ⌘ Command key, press the C key and then left click on the mouse and click paste.

Adobe InDesign

I had never used InDesign before and I created my first draft of my magazine at the beginning of the year. I decided that I found it easier to use Photoshop and decided to create my Magazine using Photoshop rather than InDesign because I found it easier to control the layers. I thought that Photopshop provided me with more options on my magazine because the colours which are shown on my front cover and contents page draft are basic and I wanted something that would stand out more.

Adobe Photoshop

I learnt a lot using Photoshop as it was my first time using it I had no idea how to use it.

I learnt how layers work and by clicking on the eye on the left, it shows what the image looks like without that layer on it without clicking undo or delete layer. I tested out numerous layer property effects when designing my magazine. I think the one I used the most was the stroke tool, I used it a lot around my images to make them stand out and also in my writing especially on the contents page.

I used Photoshop to edit my images, cut and crop around them to get rid of any existing background left on the image before I transferred it onto my magazine.

Scanner

I used the scanner to scan my sketches of my double page spread, front cover, contents page and my masthead so they were transferred from paper into image form so they could then be put onto my blog.

Prezi and SlideShare

I used prezi to create an evaluation question, it is an online zooming presentation creator, It was useful because it enabled me to make my evaluation questions look more organised and more professional.

Slide share allows you to upload power point presentations to the Internet.
