Parliament is a country’s law-making body. It is a group of people that assemble to talk about laws and issues.

It consists of the House of Commons, the House of Lords and the Monarch.

The House of Commons consists of 650 elected MP’s.

This part of Parliament has the greatest political power.

Their main role is as a law making body. They are also responsible for ensuring that the voices of citizens are heard, acting as a focus for national debate and recruiting a government.

There are 760 members of the House of Lords.There are 90 members who are hereditary

peers (have inherited their title and are not appointed). The other members are appointed by the Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister.
