What does lice look like? They are small insects which live in human hair and they feed blood from human. They are very common in children. They are whitish to grey brown colour and they are small in size which look like sesame seed when they grown-up.

They cannot fly, swim or jump and they spread easily via head to head contact, they start to climb from hair of infected person to hair of other person. Lice infestation is not result of poor hygiene or dirty hair. Since, all kinds of hair will be affected, despite of length or condition. They affect only on humans and cannot be passed into animals.

Lice life cycle

Lice can live for 3 weeks. Adult female lice can lay eggs every day. They attach egg with cement-like material which doesn’t wash-out. The eggs develop during after 9 days. The nits don’t grow, move or origin any of the health problems. When they developed they come out of eggs and start to crawl in hair and leave the empty eggshell. Empty egg would not produce another louse, though it can remain glued to hair till it is cut off or broken. The nymph can grow in size and shed the skin every few days till it becomes matured to turn into adult. Only female adult will be able to lay eggs.
