What does electrical switch mean?
Inelectrical engineering,a switchis anelectrical componentthat can break anelectrical circuit,
interrupting thecurrentor diverting it from one conductor to another.
A switch may be directly manipulated by a human as a control signal to a system, such as a computer
keyboard button, or to control power flow in a circuit, such as alight switch.
The ELECTRICAL SWITCH is a control consisting of a mechanical or electrical or electronic device
for making or breaking or changing the connections in a circuit.
An ideal switch would have no voltage drop when closed, and would have no limits on voltage or current
rating. It would have zerorise time andfall time during state changes, and would change state without
"bouncing" between on and off positions.
Light switch
In building wiring, light switches are installed at convenient locations to control lighting and occasionally
other circuits. The light switchwas invented in 1917 by William J. Newton.presently, gang switch are
used in home wiring in Bangladesh.
light holder
Generally,A device for holding a lamp or light is called light holder.
In a board sense, A shallow, flat-bottomed,asymmetricdish, shaped like the mouth of a jug, usually
with a handle.A device designed to connect an electric lamp to a circuit and to support it mechanically.
Electricity
electricity ismovement of charge round a circuit. We call this electric current.Electricity is a form
of energy resulting from the existence of charged particles (such as electrons or protons), either statically
as an accumulation of charge or dynamically as a current.Michael Faradayis known as the Father
of Electricity.
power supply
A power supply is a device that supplies electric power to an electrical load. The term ismost commonly applied to electric power converters that convert one form of electrical
energy to another, though it may also refer to devices that convert another form ofenergy to electrical energy.Every power supply must obtain the energy it supplies to its load, as well as any energyit consumes while performing that task, from an energy source. Depending on itsdesign, a power supply may obtain energy from:
Electrical energy transmission systems. Common examples of this include powersupplies that convertACline voltage toDCvoltage.

Materialsto manufacture electrical switch and light holders
There are various type of switch and light holders. But, their manufacturing process is same. It only differs
more or less use of materials. Now,I will define the materials for making a switch-
Machine (hand machine or auto machine due to technological development)
Dice of proper size (depend on producer and customer choice)
Chemical powder (Urea molding powder) single switch,
PVC sheet body, knob, back side angta (gang switch)
Copper or brass rod - to produce point and screw where the electric wire settled.
Iron- to produce Spring, which is used to handle the knob, and side screw- to adjust the switch into the
switch board,
Aluminum Sheet only to produce patti,
For the light holders the materials are same. But,it only differs in the produced instruments from the
materials. I am going to clarify it-
There are three parts of a light holder. The Upper or front part, the Middle or chamber part ,which is also
called the inner part and The lower or back part. The body of the light holder is made of chemical powder
accordind to dice. Now, You are seeing the inner part of a light holder. Into the inner part, there is a ring
made of Aluminum sheet or brass sheet to adjust the light and a connector (patti) made of Aluminum or
brass rod, which is the contact medium of electricity with /in light.there are also 4 screw pointmade of ironto adjust the ring into the back side of holder. In the lower or back side, there are two point and screw to
settle the wire, come from the swich or circuit. There are also two iron side screw to fit the holder in the
specific position.
Risk of Using Materials
Electricity supplying power depend on the back side of switch and holders point. If the switch points are
made of Iron or Stainless Steel then it has a high risk of sparks or sparking. To eliminate the risks, using
the switch point made of Aluminum or copper or brass is safer..

How an Electrical System Works
Getting Power to Your House
Electrical systems vary in complexity, from a simple circuit to the electrical system in your home. So
how do they work? First, you need a power source or generator. The voltage produced at a powerplant is great for traveling the long distances it needs to get to service large areas, but is too much foryour home use, so along the way it passes through transformers that "transform" it into a safe andusable current, before reaching your electric meter, a measuring device that tracks powerconsumption.
The Electrical System in Your House
Next step is your main distribution panel. It separates your house into different circuits. In order for
electricity to work, a circuit needs to be complete. The current travels from the power source through
the positive or "hot" wire, and returns through a neutral wire. In your home, one wire sends an
electrical current to your home, and another (neutral) wire directs it from your home. Any time you
plug something in or turn on a light switch, you're completing a circuit, allowing that light to turn on.
If a circuit is overloaded, it will trigger a circuit breaker that cuts off the power to that circuit,
preventing electrical fire.
How Does a Electric Switch Work?
As an operating part, switches exist everywhere in everybodys life, supporting communications
between people and electronic devices. Users press a power switch to start the operation of a device
and then give the machine other instructions. In addition, users acknowledge their action of pressing
the switch to give a machine instructions just through the sensation in their finger.
Electrical switches operate fairly in a basic design the most common being the on/off
toggle switch. An on/off switch normally breaks the current when in the 'off' position.
When it's in the 'on' position, the current gets completed. The function of the electrical
switch is to control the current that travels between the load and the power source.
Functions and Roles of Switches Necessary in Our Daily Life
Switches Serve as an Interface Between Humans and Machines
Each morning, we stop the alarm clock when we wake up, turn on the lights and then the TV, perhaps to
watch the morning news. Switches are key components in every facet of our daily lives, including
telephones, mobile phones, fax machines, personal computers, automobiles, washing machines,
microwaves, video game controllers and more.
We, the people of modern society, are surrounded by a variety of electronic devices, and switches are the

tools that connect us to those devices. Switches give devices users instructions, such as to turn the power
on or off or adjust the audio volume. At the same time, switches serve as an interface to inform users of
operating conditions by the clicking or movement of knobs .
