NEXPRESSO (Network for EXchange and PRototype Evaluation of photonicS componentS and Optical systems)
OBJECTIVE
• To put pre-competitive photonic components and systems in the hands of
researchers and students
• To facilitate transfer of the university results for potential end-users in new
markets and new applications
HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. EPIC opens a call for components. Suppliers respond by submitting proposals
of pre-competitive components.
2. Universities respond by submitting R&D proposals using one of the components
in a research project.
3. The proposals are sent to the companies to select the prohects with highest
interest. EPIC is this acting as a broker.
4. The chosen university begins the R&D project and EPIC monitors progress to
ensure the objectives are being achieved.
EPIC Business Support
EPIC, in partnership with Yole Développement, provides support to its members to
discuss any business or market related topics. Talking with an external person may
help to provide a different perspective and to tackle issues from a different angle.
Brainstorming with someone who has experience of working with many companies
from various sectors can result in approaching issues from a different viewpoint
and reflect aspects no previously considered. The interaction takes place over the
phone, in confidentiality, and free to EPIC members.

HOW TO APPLY: EPIC members can benefit yearly of a 45 minutes session,
applications must be submitted through the primary membership contact of the
organization applying.
EPIC members have priority and discount at EPIC events.
Our technology workshops and B2B roundtables are mainly on-invitation-only and limited in size.
Examples:
• Aerospace/Security/Defense hosted by Thales in United Kingdom, Selex in Italy
• Biophotonics hosted by Maastricht and Rotterdam hospitals in The Netherlands
• Photonics Integrated Circuits hosted by IBM in Switzerland, TE in The Netherlands
• Photonics in Transport, Food, Packaging, Environment, Agriculture, Energy, …
EPIC members are the priority for the association, we learn about your company.
Over 40 company visits every year!
