Our Mission!

!  PBIS-SCP Canada aims to provide basic information and technical assistance to encourage the implementation of PBIS-SCP in Canada.

!  We promote information sharing across the country, building collaborative relationships among Canadian schools, school systems, provincial and territorial governments, researchers, and universities.

Our Mission!

!  We aim to enable multi-site research and knowledge mobilization to support school systems and schools in implementation and sustainability in both official languages (English and French).

Our Accomplishments

!  We developed and maintained two web sites for PBIS-SCP Canada !  The goal is to actively exchange bilingual information and

resources on PBIS-SCP through a web site in French and English with examples of school and system implementation including training materials, accessible descriptions of research results and an online community of practice forum.

!  There are two sites, one in English and one in French. They are linked in order to be able to have access to the official language of choice.

http://pbisscpcanada.wordpress.com English http://scp-pbis.com French

Our Accomplishments (Nov 14 to Oct 15)

!  Activities from PBIS-SCP Canada as a collective: !  77 conference presentations !  162 schools currently supported !  59 coaches currently supported !  Co-development initiatives:

!  Tier 3 training module

!  SWPBIS Tiered Fidelity Inventory !  Tool to assess implementation fidelity and sustainability

!  PBIS Early Childhood adapted to Quebec culture !  Facilitator’s guide for CICO

!  Adaptation of PBIS for Cree and Inuit communities

!  Adaptation of PBIS for youth in residential group homes

Future Goals

! Web site; the next steps are: !  To better coordinate the two sites for content

and training materials. !  To have a quarterly E-newsletter for school staff;

online professional development modules; and articles for broad, traditional dissemination.

! Annual conference !  We have been hosting our annual conference at the Making

Connections Conference in Vancouver for the last two years. The next step will be to hold a dedicated PBIS-SCP Canadian Conference.

Future Goals

!  Expand the PBIS-SCP Canada Network !  Through the creation and maintenance of partnerships

representing each Canadian province and territory.

!  Increase access to bilingual material !  Increase sharing of training and support materials and find

funding to facilitate translation in both official language.

Challenges and Successes

! Successes: !  Members of PBIS-SCP Canada have shown initiative and

commitment necessary to deal with the fact that our network covers a very large territory.

!  We, as a group, have been successful in getting the attention of a few provincial Ministries of Education in relation to PBIS and RTI.

!  We have just expanded our Network to a few more provinces.

Challenges and Successes

! Challenges: !  The fact that Canada has two official languages; English and

French. Accessibility can be difficult in some areas of the country.

!  Distance is always an issue when comes time to attend different activities.

!  Funding is difficult to get at this time.
