Whaingaroa Youth Movement December 2016 Community Dance Theatre Production
Produce a dance theatre show created and performed by 65-70 local children aged between 5-18 years. This dance work will be choreographed and developed by the dancers themselves.
The development of this creative dance work will be supported by local dancers and delivered by a professional production team. We engage skilled theatre technicians to deliver and produce a high quality production with visual impact. We work with local set and costume designers to best represent the choreography and themes and transform the Raglan Town hall into a black box theatre space.
Whaingaroa Youth Movement has been holding annual performance events since 2003. Biannually we create a full theatre production in the Town Hall to give the children a true theatre experience. Every second year we perform outdoors in the Wainui Bush Park Reserve. Due to cost and workload we are only able to hold the theatre events every second year and need funding support to do so.

How will your project benefit your community?
This project will contribute to the cultural and social wellbeing of our community through: - empowering our young dancers to develop and perform their own creative dance work, learn to work to a deadline, in creative collaboration, under pressure and develop performance skills. - giving voice and outlet for expression of ideas and concepts, develop confidence, keeps our kids active and engaged in positive activity. - giving the audience/community an opportunity to celebrate the creative work of our tamariki and come together for a positive, creative community event. - give local professional contemporary dancers an opportunity to mentor and develop young dancers at a grassroots level and form relationships and pathways into further dance education. - working alongside professional designers, artists and technicians at grassroots level, developing working relationships and adding value to the end product

W h a t do you want t o do?
We want to run a 2 day workshop where participants will learn the large range of techniques that can be used with art metal (shimm, mesh etc) and Angelina fibres (a heat reactive fibre). Then to also learn how to incorporate these techniques together and how to use the results in the style of art we already do. Thereby increasing our art knowledge.
185
4 The benefits/He aha nga hua See the CCS Application Guide on page 3
How will your project benefit your community?
All our workshops are open to the local community. This means they can try a large range of creative arts at an affordable price. Craft metals are very hard to get in New Zealand and some are not available at all. Buying the metal products from the US or UK is expensive. By buying them as a group we can spread the cost of the bulk amounts. This workshop allows participants to try a new art medium they would normally not have access to. We also have an ongoing art display at the library so the community as a whole can enjoy an inspiring exciting display of art. We aim for these displays to encourage the public to give art and creating a go as well as adding an stimulating beautiful environment to the library.

Attachments A) Cutting Edge Textiles — accounts, 10 pages.
We keep a running total of cash available, entered into the back of the meeting book. It's available to be looked thru by members at any time.
If large amounts are received or spent then a member is selected to double check the account
eg received subs or funding and supplies or tutors paid

Cutting Edge Textiles Account notes Income Our yearly income is from subs and meeting entry fees.
Our subs start in Jan and are paid when members come to their first meeting or by Internet. So subs can dribble in all through the year. Subs are $25 annually.
We have started this year with 11 sub paid members. Most subs are paid in Feb meeting (4th Sat) after people get back from holidays etc
An entry fee of $5 per person is charged at each meeting.
Sometimes there is an extra class cost, usually only a couple of dollars, if any supplies are provided. We aim to at least break even for each meeting.
All income is allocated to cover the year's hall costs first. Income above this allows us to bulk buy supplies for future classes or to pay for an outside of group tutor. All members teach a class for free on a rotation.
Most months there is a class surplus (after all costs) of $20+.
Outgoing Hall costs:
We meet twice a month (once in Dec) 23 meets @ $25 hall hire
Class costs: Vary each month - for supplies, equipment use and any tutor costs (not including any funded workshop tutor costs)
197
Daily Running Account balance $-216.84 @ end of Jan 2016
Az The negative balance is due to buying supplies ready for the rest of the year's classes. As organiser Margherita Allan has covered the purchase costs. Income from these classes will mostly be surplus.
So the balance will go back into the black if not completely in Feb (as most people pay subs then) then by April at latest.
Allocated money Included in the accounts is $121, made in an Oct sales day. We have allocated this amount as a start of a fund towards a UK tutor (Kim Thitticahi) who is coming to teach us for 5 days in April 2017. We will separate the amount to its own account towards the end of the year.
Funding money We keep funding money separate from the daily running account. Fund account balance is $427.90 for the coming April workshop.
Bulk items We buy wholesale bulk supplies for various classes. These items are then used in smaller quantities in classes or sold to members at cost. We have a list of items valued at $1615. As mentioned we have pre bought supplies ready for this year's classes so these items will be used or sold over the next year or so. All are only replaced if needed for a class, so over time this $amount will reduce.
