Why Study World History?

•To be politically intelligent - to be a member of this world - you must be aware of the story of man:

•- common memory of where man has been

•- what man’s core values are

•- how the past circumstances caused the present circumstances

Why Study World History?

• “History is the only laboratory we have in which to test the consequences of thought.”

• philosopher Etienne Gilson

• By studying the choices and decisions of the past, students can confront today’s problems and choices with a deeper awareness of the alternatives before them and the likely consequences of each.
