NATIONAL RECYCLING WEEK 2012 RUNS FROM MONDAY 12 – SUNDAY 18 NOVEMBER.

http://recyclingweek.planetark.org/

Reuse: This process requires no energy as it uses the product in its current form.

Recycle: This process uses energy to convert the material into something else.

Reuse is better than recycle; could your unwanted goods be donated, swapped, sold in a jumble sale?

THE REUSE AND RECYCLING DIRECTORY. This guide will assist you in finding companies that divert resources from landfill and transform them into reusable and recyclable materials.

http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/2010%20Library/2009%20PDF%20and%20Docs/4.Environment%20and%20Waste/Recycling/Reuse_and_Recycling_Services_Directory_2011-12.pdf

This directory is listed in alphabetical order by material type. Under each listing there are various options for reuse or recycling, which will help you find your unwanted resource a new home faster. If you have an

unwanted item that still can be used, such as household furniture, you could consider donating it to an organisation that can give it a second life, such as a charity shop, refurbisher or repairer. You could also

consider selling it, giving it away to a friend, or taking it to one of Council’s transfer stations where it can be donated to Council’s Tip Shop. Or you could hold a church jumble sale or donate it to a parish helping

refugees.

Creating God, teach us to use carefully the good gifts of this planet, our first home. Let us be mindful of the

hundreds of generations that might yet come, to minimise waste, and to recycle all that we can.

The Roscoe Library: forming people, transforming communities Actively involved in the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane? You’re welcome to free

membership of the Roscoe Library. Please visit, browse and borrow! We would like to highlight a recent acquisition, Following the path : the search for a life of passion, purpose, and joy by Joan Chittister (2012). Who would not wish to follow such a path?

“This book is meant to give someone in the process of making a life decision at any age – in early adulthood, at the point of middle-age change and later, when we find ourselves at the crossroads without a name – some ideas against which to pit their own minds, their own circumstances. Its purpose, as they wrestle with the process of trying to find and follow their own special call at this new stage of life, is to both provoke thinking and clarify it.” – Joan Chittister.

“In our modern and mobile society, the range of answers to the questions ‘What am I supposed to do with my life?’ and ‘How do I know when I’ve found my purpose?’ can seem endless and overwhelming. Following the path by Sister Joan brings the insights of her years of teaching and contemplation to bear on this issue, providing readers with a new way forward. Through her examination of spiritual calling, change and discernment, she leads us home to the place where, finally, we know we fit, where we can experience our lives more fully, and ultimately realize the gifts we can give the world. Following the path is not only a joy to read, it is a timely and much needed message than many will be happy to hear.” – Cover.

Opening hours are Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm. Library staff, Eve James, Susan Thomas and Kay

CHANGE TO LONG SERVICE LEAVE CONTRIBUTION COLLECTION FROM PARISHES

The Diocese currently collects contributions for Clergy Long Service Leave in a number of different

methods. In order to streamline our processes and increase efficiency, as of November 2012 we will be

moving to one method of collection for all parishes. The new process will be a direct debit of the quarterly

amount due processed via ANFIN in the middle of the last month of the quarter. Your parish will receive an

email approximately one week before the debit is due advising of: 1. the amount to be debited; and 2. the

date of the debit. A letter will shortly be issued to parishes detailing the new process enclosing a direct

debit request for completion by 16 November.

If you have any immediate questions or concerns please contact Linda Tedman on 38387705 or e-mail
