After what has hopefully been a restful Easter break for all in the
WSPS family, we face a long and exciting term. I encourage
everyone to work hard to achieve their personal goals and
successes. This hard work is embodied in the dedication and
organisation of our staff and can be found in their willingness to
sacrifice portions of their well-earned holiday to tour with
children, or to embark on another tour in the first week of term,
or in their ability to ensure that sport practices started on the
very first day of the new term. Most critically, all our children
were fully engaged in the timetable of quality learning and
teaching from the very first period of the day. I urge all our
children to follow the example of their teachers and take up the
challenges of the new term with commitment, passion,
organisation and hard work.

2. Welcome Mrs Bolton
At the end of last term we sadly had to say farewell to Miss
Coetzer as she headed off on her new adventure but we are
extremely fortunate to have secured the services of the highly
experienced and skilful Mrs Anne Bolton for the duration of the
year to ensure the high quality of teaching and learning in the
5C classroom continues uninterrupted. Mrs Bolton is no stranger
to WSPS - apart from being a full member of staff for many
years, she has frequently stepped into the breach at times when
we have needed a locum teacher to cover a prolonged staff
absence. Welcome back, Mrs Bolton!
Camp Out 2016 is 6 weeks away! Important documents will
be sent home next week which include Camp Out Registration
forms as well as Parent Volunteer forms. This is an event not to
be missed, either as a Camper or a Volunteer. Remember that
Camp Out is for the WSPS learners only. Please direct your
queries to [email protected].

With the much anticipated annual WSPS Golf Day less than 3
weeks away, the players in the full field are preparing to battle it
out on the highly respected Kloof Country Club course. This
popular Fund Raising Event promises to be a memorable event
and early signs are that the course will be in excellent
condition. Although all fourballs have been filled, we are still
appealing to parents to support this event with prizes or
sponsorships.

5. Parents “Unpacking Bullying” Presentation
WSPS is happy to inform parents that we will be hosting an
informative talk on “Unpacking Bullying”. The talk will centre on
the environment and culture around bullying and how parents,
the school and educators can be proactive about creating a
culture of respectful and honourable relationships. A group of
our staff attended a full workshop presented by Candice and
their positive feedback about what she has to say make it one
not to be missed. Regrettably, this presentation is for parents of
WSPS learners only. The presentation will be hosted in the WSPS
School Hall on Tuesday, 12 April from 18h00 to 19h00. I look
forward to seeing strong community support of this worthwhile
initiative.
Please make use of the tuckshop pre-order forms and menu
which are available on the D6 communicator. This convenient
and efficient method of having some control over your child’s
tuckshop habits is a real money and time saver.

Please contact Sharon Dickens at school
([email protected]) should you wish to
donate prizes or make use of one of the few
remaining sponsorship opportunities.
To all those who are playing on the day, I
trust you will enjoy yourself and support our
sponsors. See you on the course!

Congratulations to Tatum Botha who took part in the

for the Taplin Relay and the Surf-Swim and 2 silver medals
for the Run-Swim and Body Board.
Well done to Cobey Marks who represented KZN in the SA
Karate Championships on 18 March 2016 and won 3rd

for Kumite.
Stars of the Week
We will once again be collecting Ladies’, Men’s and children’s
second hand clothing and shoes in support of the Wildlands
Conservation Trust. The Wildlands Conservation Trust have built
a solid reputation through their “Trees for Life” and “Waste for
Life” projects which have created thousands of Tree-preneurs
and Waste-preneurs. Community members across the country
collect recyclable waste and grow indigenous trees which they
then barter with Wildlands for livelihood goods. Last year we
collected more than 100 bags of good quality, second-hand
clothing from our WSPS community and we look forward to
similarly generous support this year.

8. 2016 Soccer Tour to Limpopo and Gauteng
I would like to wish our soccer teams the best of luck for their
tour. The boys depart for Gauteng/Limpopo on Thursday, 7 April
and return on Sunday, 10 April. I am sure they will be excellent
ambassadors for their school and community. Thank you to Mr
Pillay, Mr Schuit and Miss Rencken for all their hard work in
making this tour a reality.
