QW EVENT TO BE HELD DURING ROVING WEEK IN LOUISVILLE, KY When: Thursday March 16, 2017 Where: Host Hotel Crowne Plaza Time: 1 pm Evaluators: Dawn Martin, Sandy Campbell, and Lisa Pacheco

There will be a QW event during the upcoming Roving week in Louisville, KY. The event is sponsored by the QW National Committee. It will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 beginning at 1:00 pm at the Roving host hotel (Crowne Plaza – Airport) in Louisville) The 3 QW Evaluators for this event will be Dawn Martin, Sandy Campbell and Lisa Pacheco. This is a terrific chance to have your Westie evaluated by 3 long-time, very experienced Westie breeders with a detailed two-page scoring sheet representing the Westie

Page 10: Westie Updates · Uniontown, OH 44685 Tel: 330-618-7902 cajims@msn.com NEW MEMBERSHIP CHAIRPERSON: Darlene Cox Davis 10119 N. 60th Street West Porter, OK 74454 918-688-0313 (cell)

standard. Entrants will receive a signed copy of the scoring sheets from each of the 3 evaluators. There should be plenty of interaction between the entrant and the evaluators as your Westie is being examined. Note that the average time a judge at a conformation show will spend going over your dog is approximately 30 seconds. At a QW event, EACH of the 3 evaluators will spend approximately 10 minutes examining your Westie on the table, interacting with you and demonstrating their significant findings to you. There are no professional handlers there, there is no show grooming needed (Westies must just be neat and clean), you don’t need to get dressed up, just show up and walk right into the ring. No tack boxes, no ex pens, no hair dryers, etc. This is NOT a competitive event; it’s an educational event. Just remember that Westies entered must be at least 18 months old; spayed and neutered Westies are welcome. If you would like to make a QW entry, go to the national club website (http://www.westieclubamerica.com/quality-westie-program/quality-westie-evaluation-form.html) and fill out the entry form and follow the directions there. Hope to see you and your Westie at Louisville next month. We’re pleased to announce that 4 more experienced and knowledgeable Westie breeders have joined our Evaluator panel : Jim McGarr (CT), Lisa Pacheco (MA), Allison Platt (NC) and Linda Wells (OR). Linda is also an AKC judge of Westies. We now have a total of 18 excellent evaluators on our panel. To see the entire list, please go to: http://www.westieclubamerica.com/quality-westie-program/Quality-Westie-Evaluator-Panel.pdf

MVWIS at the

Louisville Roving Most Versatile Westie in the WHWTCA Roving Specialty 2017

The Performance Committee (PACE) has re-affirmed and clarified its principle that it will count

places/pass/qualifies in classes at the dog’s current titling level and one below.

The rules for the 2017 Roving reflect this principle and the particular events which are

available over this four-day event. Restrictions on sports not offered during this

riving are removed for clarity.

2017 Roving Rules:

The Most Versatile Westie in the WHWTCA National Roving Specialty 2017 and the

three runners up will be awarded trophies based on the point system described

below:

Dogs earn points by Qualifying, Placing or Passing in each entered class at selected events during the week of the WHWTCA National Roving Specialty. Each dog may earn a maximum of six (6) points in each sport/area.

To be eligible: A dog must qualify, place or pass in at least two different

areas (Conformation, Obedience, Rally, Agility, CGC, or Barn Hunt).

Points accumulate over all entered classes in these events:

However, no points for a dog with any obedience or Rally title in any CGC test.

Further, no points for a dog who qualifies or passes in a class two levels

below his top titled class. For example, an RE dog may earn points in the

RE, RA or both classes but not the Novice Rally Class.

Each dog may earn a maximum of six (6) points in each sport:

Conformation, Obedience, Rally, Agility and Barn Hunt. Further

places/pass/qualifies in each sport serve only as tie-breakers.

Each dog earns points based on the following system over the period of competition:

o +3 points for the first-time the dog places/passes/qualifies in each

area over the days of competition.

o +2 points for the second-time the dog places/passes/qualifies in

each area over the week of competition.

o +1 point for the third-time the dog places/passes/qualifies in each

area over the week of competition, RATI in Barn Hunt, or earning a

CGC, CGCA or CGCU.

Ties will be broken by adding 0.1 points for each qualifying category beyond

2. Remaining ties by adding 0.01 points for each first place finish. Remaining

ties by adding 0.001 points for each placement win in head-to-head

competition. Remaining ties by adding 0.0001 points for each excess

place/pass/qualify not counted as 3/2/1 points. These extra points are only

used to

break ties.

Awards will be presented after the conclusion of Westie judging on the last

day of competition. Examples:

1. An MX-MXJ dog enters MX & MXJ & NF at one trial. The dog fails MX and MXJ

but qualifies in NF will earn 3 points since he is working at his level in FAST.

The dog who qualifies in MX and NF but fails MXJ earns 5 points.

2. An MX-MXJ dog enters MX & MXJ & NF at two trials. The dog passes NF at

the first trial and all three at the second trial. The dog earns 6 points for

passing at his level three times and no additional points for the fourth pass.

3. An RE dog enters RE and RA at two separate trials. The dog passes RE once

and RA once earns 5 points regardless of whether they were at the same

trial.

4. A UD dog enters Preferred Utility and Preferred Open at two trials. The dog qualifies in all four classes. The dog earns +6 points since PUTD and PCDX are both MVWIRS qualifying events for a dog with a UD title.
