With increasing costs a major consideration for many couples, more now choose Registry Office marriages as a hassle-free alternative.

In Western Sydney, the Parramatta Registry is a popular choice where almost 4,000 couples have tied the knot in the last three years. A custom-built marriage room accommodates up to 24 guests with easy access for prams and wheel chairs. An adjoining marriage garden is perfect for outdoor marriages or photos after the ceremony. Beside the river, it’s a lovely romantic setting attracting couples locally, as well as interstate and overseas.

From ceremony to certificate, the Registry is a seamless way to tie the knot. And for a personal touch to make the day memorable, couples are welcome to add a little something to their vows. The Brides dress will be carefully given a detailed inspection to insure that any soils are correctly identified and correctly removed. Special care is taken to ensure that the shape of the garment is maintained and acid free tissue paper is used when the dress is layered into a specially prepared box to assist in the gowns preservation.

If desired the gown can be specially prepared and sealed in an inert gas environment to ensure the best possible preservation. The inert gas

prevents discolouration due to oxidisation.

Remember, over time stains and age will allow the gown to discolour. Food stains attract insects, champagne and white wine whilst difficult to see (as opposed to red wine) contain sugar which as it deteriorates will caramelise, turn brownish with age and become impossible to remove on some fibres. Perspiration soils

and body oils will age and turn yellow. Constant exposure to ultra violet light will damage and weaken the fabric.

I can’t remember the girl’s name that looked after the bridal table but she was wonderful making sure we always had drinks and then taking everything back to our room. All our wedding items were packed up carefully when we collected them in the morning.

The food and service was excellent. We had a family member comment that it was the first wedding they had been to where they weren’t going

to have to go and find a McDonalds because the quality and amount of food they were served was so great, they left full and loved the food. One of my bridesmaids said she doesn’t normally eat wedding food but she ate everything on her plate for all three courses at our wedding so a big thank you and congratulations to the chef and all his staff !

Hair As soon as possible decide on the length, shape and style of your wedding day hairstyle. This will allow you to have an early trial with your hairdresser to determine whether the style is right for you. Remember to take your headpiece and veil to complete your look.

Many bride’s decide to colour or highlight their hair for their wedding day. However, it is important that you give your hairdresser enough time to create the desired look and to correct any mistakes. We suggest at least 4 months before your wedding day to work with your hairdresser to determine the exact colour/s you desire. Then have the process done at 6 weekly intervals, the last just before the big day. This will ensure you are happy with the look of your hair and have no big unwanted colour surprises.

It is a good idea to book weekly deep conditioning treatments for your hair. This will give your hair a boost before your wedding day, leaving it healthy and shiny. Consult with your hairdresser to schedule your final cut before your wedding day to ensure your hair looks fabulous. Make-up Consult a professional well before the event to discuss possible colours. Then schedule a trial session to ensure you and your make-up artist are happy with the result. It is a good idea to purchase the same lipstick and powder used by your make-up artist, allowing you to touch up your make-up perfectly throughout the day.

It is advisable to stick to the make-up brands that best suit your skin type. If you have problem areas such as blemishes, scares or under-eye circles, yellow and blue based concealers work best.

Body Once, to twice, a week you should exfoliate your skin, concentrating on areas such as elbows, knees and feet. Follow up with a deep moisturiser.

Many brides choose to tan before their wedding day. If you are using a self tanner, remember to experiment well before the event to determine the correct amount required to gain your desired look. If you are attending a professional tanning studio, it is still a good idea to have an application well before the event. If you do not, you risk the look of unnatural colour or even an allergic reaction.

Consult your GP to work out if your body’s immune system needs any extra boosts such as vitamin supplements and anti-oxidants. This will help your body to look and feel its best for the big day.

Drink eight to ten glasses of water a day. This will boost your energy, and will leave your skin glowing. Exercising is a must. Commit to a routine that best suits the results you want to achieve. The result will be that you look and feel better, your energy levels will improve and your stress levels will drop.

If you desire to loose weight to fit into your dream gown or to improve your health it is advisable to consult a professional weight loss clinic or your GP.

Remember to rest. It is healthy to get eight hours of sleep a day. Although it’s only natural that we all want to look like a million bucks on our day of days, it’s important not to get too carried away with the superficials. After all, your soon-to-be better half loves you just the way you are.

The multi-tier white wedding cake, long the prevailing image of a traditional wedding, has been replaced by an abundance of bright and exciting styles designed to represent the personalities of the marrying couple. But with all of these new shapes, sizes and flavours to choose from, how should couples go about choosing a great wedding cake? The secret is to start your search early, and to investigate all of your options. Not only does this give couples ample time to make their selection, it also gives them a chance to indulge in some tasty testing sessions.

A few tips before meeting with a cake artist:

• Do your homework. Have an idea of the general styles, shapes and colours you are attracted to prior to your meeting. There is very little even the best artist can do with: “I don’t know.”

• Have a general budget determined before arriving. If budget is an issue just be upfront about it. It’s helpful to know in advance what

numbers you are comfortable with so your cake can be designed with that in mind. It really helps eliminate disappointment and frustration later in the process.

• Bring as much information about your event with you to your consultation as you can. Have an invitation, colour swatches, photos of your dress and florals? Bring them. Anything can be used as a starting point and provide inspiration for the cake of your dreams!

• Only bring the people involved in making the final decision to your consultation. Cake tasting is the one wedding chore that you will surely get a lot of volunteers for! Too many opinions are distracting and ultimately complicate the process.

• Above all please remember it’s “JUST CAKE”. Enjoy the process and have fun.
