WESTERN PERSPECTIVE - Art & Creativity in West Texas An original production by Basin PBS for the 2011 PBS Arts Fall Festival WESTERN PERSPECTIVE - Art & Creativity in West Texas is an original production by Basin PBS airing as part of the 2011 PBS Arts Fall Festival. This 30-minute program, which will air locally Friday, December 2, 7:30 p.m., gives viewers an intimate look into the creative process and work of the artists and entities that shape the vast exhibition space of West Texas. It will be followed by GREAT PERFORMANCES: Andrea Bocelli Live in Central Park at 8 p.m. WESTERN PERSPECTIVE will be seen on PBS stations across Texas including Houston, Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi, Amarillo and more. WESTERN PERSPECTIVE has also been chosen for distribution to PBS stations nationwide. From landscape photography to performance theatre, WESTERN PERSPECTIVE takes us on a journey to the creative side of this remote area we all call home. “We hope to inspire all our neighbors to learn more about the arid landscape that molds West Texans into the unique characters, artists and individual personalities that make up these wide open spaces,” said Cara Carney, Basin PBS and WESTERN PERSPECTIVE producer. The program profiles several prominent artists, intuitions, and foundations: James Evans - Enjoy rare access to this photographer as he shoots the landscapes and the people of the Big Bend in all their beauty, harshness and character. The Fort Griffin Fandangle - Take a look into Texas’ oldest outdoor musical passed down through three generations. The Chinati Foundation and Donald Judd Experience the late Donald Judd’s repertoire of three form known as stacks, boxes and progressions as we visit the large-scale installations that make up this decidedly different contemporary arts scene. Elliott Lunson Meet a contemporary Midland artist who combines oil-based materials on paper with evolving large-scale portrait imagery. Ellen Noël Art Museum The Ellen Noël Art Museum is our very own Smithsonian and the destination in West Texas to experience art through all the senses. Marfa Public Radio Radio for a wide range – This small NPR station is known as radio for a wide range as they connect small communities throughout the West Texas desert.
