2009  Fal l  Color  TourHosted  by  Paul  Krapp

Perfect   fa l l  weather  accompanied  12 Porsches   to   the  Fremont  /  Newaygo area  of  Michigan   for  our  annual  PCA Color  Tour  on  October  10t h ,  2009 .  Enthusiast  Paul  Krapp  se lected  a  beaut i fu l   route  o f   country   roads   f i l led  with   the  co lors  o f  fa l l ,  wi th  a  br ief   intermiss ion at   the  scenic   r ivers ide  park   in  downtown Newaygo .  

Af ter  more  dr iv ing ,   the  group made a  quick  pi t   s top  a t  a   smal l ,   unassuming  county  park   just  east  o f  Newaygo ,  where   there  was  an  unexpected and  qui te  breathtak ing  v is ta .  From the  h igh   r idge  of   the  park ,  one  could  see   the  Muskegon  r iver  down below as   i t   snaked   through  the  beaut i fu l   fa l l   fo l iage  o f  the  Manistee  Nat ional  Forest .  The  Porschephi les  a lso  had  a   chance   to  p ick  up  some o ld‐ fashioned  caramel   corn  and caramel   apples   from a  vendor  s i tuated   in  the  park   in  a  v intage  1950s  peddler   t ruck .

The  dr ive  ended at   the  Northern  Trai ls   restaurant  on  M‐82  just  outs ide  Newaygo ,  where  revelers  enjoyed  good  food ,  good spir i ts ,   and   the  company of  Porsche   f r iends  o ld  and new.  The  bar   in   the   rear  part  o f   the  bui ld ing  was   f i l led  to   capac i ty  with  patrons  watching  Ohio  State  pummel  Wisconsin .  But  even   i f  one  was  a  Wisconsin  or  a  Michigan   fan ,   a   good  t ime was  had  by  a l l .

At lanta, November 3, 2009 - Porsche AG has announced i t is expanding i ts innovat ive automobi le product ion at the main factory in Stut tgar t -Zuf fenhausen to inc lude one of the most modern and envi ronmental ly - f r iendly pa int shops in the wor ld that wi l l s ign i f icant ly reduce overa l l emiss ions of th is notor ious ly problemat ic indust r ia l process and st i l l resul t in a more super ior pa int f in ish on the cars going through i t .

The factory at Zuf fenhausen is where Porsche bui lds a l l i ts 911 and Boxsters spor ts cars.

The outer skeleton s t ructure of the new paint shop has a l ready taken shape, wi th the s tee l supports set to be completed in ear ly 2010, and the ent i re fac i l i ty is scheduled to be operat ional by 2011.

The paint shop wi l l be run on two-shi f t -operat ion wi th a da i ly capaci ty of up to 170 911 and Boxster models at the Zuf fenhausen fac i l i ty . The la test env i ronmental ly sens i t ive technologies are being used dur ing the new construct ion process as wel l as for the paint ing operat ion. For example, the paint ing process wi l l feature complete dust protect ion wi th 100 percent encapsulat ion. This method not on ly enhances the a l ready h igh qual i ty o f the vehic le pa int coat , but a lso reduces the requi red amount of condi t ioned hal l a i r requi red.

Porsche Builds New Paint Shop with Latest Environmental Technology

ATLANTA - November 5, 2009 - Weighing in at jus t 2 ,811 lbs. , the new 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder wi l l be the l ightest Porsche avai lab le - f rom a company known for l ightweight , prof ic ient spor ts cars. This new mid-engined roadster represents the t rue, pur is t form of the spor ts car - agi le , powerfu l , open and ef f ic ient . This th i rd Boxster model wi l l jo in the Boxster and Boxster S and wi l l make i ts wor ld debut a t the Los Angeles Auto Show, December 2, 2009.

The newest member of the Boxster fami ly s tands out f rom the other vers ions of Porsche 's mid-engined roadster. I ts low-s lung, l ightweight sof t top - when c losed - ex tends far to the rear to protect the dr iver and passenger f rom br ight sunshine, wind and weather . This top, when combined wi th ext ra- low s ide windows and two st r ik ing bulges on the s ing le-p iece rear l id, prov ides the Boxster Spyder wi th a s leek s i lhouet te remin iscent o f the Carrera GT.

The Boxster Spyder features a 3.4- l i ter s ix-cy l inder engine wi th Di rect Fuel In ject ion upfront o f the rear ax le. Maximum output is 320 horsepower (hp) , 10 hp more than the Boxster S. The combinat ion of 10 more hp and 176 pounds less weight than the award-winning Boxster S, p lus an a l l -new spor t suspension that lowers the Boxster Spyder 20 mm, a lower center of grav i ty , a s tandard l imi ted s l ip d i f ferent ia l , and

exc lus ive wheels prov ides the k ind of dr iv ing dynamics that back up the unique look. Aluminum door sk ins and l ightweight in ter ior door panels f rom the 911 GT3 RS cont r ibute to the weight reduct ion.

When equipped wi th Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK) t ransmiss ion and the Spor ts Chrono Package, the new Spyder , us ing Launch Contro l , accelerates f rom a s tandst i l l to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Top t rack speed is 166 mph - wi th the roof open.

In 2004 and 2008 Porsche produced l imi ted edi t ions of the Boxster bear ing the addi t ional name Spyder , honor ing the 550 and RS 60. In contrast , the new Boxster Spyder is a regular , but spec ia l ly developed and upgraded product ion model as compared wi th the Boxster and Boxster S.
