West Texas Family & Community Services
Mission Statement
West Texas Family and Community Services strives to provide services for individuals of the community by advocating and seeking efficient, effective, and proactive resources that help the individual become a self-sufficient member of society while promoting the experiential education of West Texas A&M University students by providing volunteer and internship opportunities in their fields of study.

Interns at West Texas Family and Community Services are students at WTAMU finishing up their Bachelors degrees in Social Work. By the end of the semester they will have logged 960 hours collectively at WTFCS. These unpaid positions have helped WTFCS keep their doors open, providing another integral resource for the Amarillo community.
Volunteers
West Texas Family and Community Services depends on the numerous volunteers that contribute their time and effort towards making this organization a success.
What Does West Texas Family & Community Services Do?
•Evaluate Client Needs
•Make Resource Referrals
•Advocate for Clients
•Seek out funds to help with rent, utilities, and miscellaneous needs
•Provide free counseling services
On a Daily Basis…
Counseling Programs
Graduate Interns provide individual and couples counseling for the Amarillo community at no cost
to the clients.
Outreach Programs Students who are currently enrolled in
Field Practicum and Group Processes lead various groups that address a number of issues that include:
- Life Skills
- Anger Management
- Parenting Skills
- North Heights student support
WTAMU & WTFCS work together to integrate real world experience into the learning environment.

• Will see 50 new clients that are referred from various agencies
• Will provide counseling to 35 clients• Will have 29 volunteers donate 607 hours• Will hand out 80 clothing vouchers to
those in need• Will provide necessary supplies to families
in need
