WEST CENTRAL DISTRICT MET AT BEAR POINT CHURCH JANUARY 17, 2001 The meeting was opened with the congregation in singing" Sweet, Sweet Spirit" and Bro. · Bob Irvin led us in prayer. The congregation then sang" What A Savior" and Bro. Bryant Harris read the Church Covenant. The meeting was called to order by the clerk; who recognized the standing delegates. The letters were read and a motion was sustained to receive the letters and seat the delegates. The following committees were appointed: Memorial Committee: Ruth Kirby Chr. Keith Beckham, & Wayne Kunde Resolutions Ted Harmon, Chr. Kelly Leek, & Peggy LeVault Motion was sustained to adopt the quarterly report of the Treasurer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The moderator then declared a recess. Worship Service The service was opened with the congregation singing " How Long Has It Been?" and Bro. Bruce Thurman led in prayer. The congregation then sang " At Calvary" and Bro. David Malone led in prayer. The special music was presented by Sis Andrea Harris. Bro. Mark Shores brought the message from I Kings 18:37-38 and Acts 2:1 concerning the spiritual coldness of many churches and what is needed for the fire of God to fall. Motion was sustained to adopt the quarterly report of the Treasurer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The moderator then declared a recess.

Worship Service The service was opened with the congregation singing " How Long Has It Been?" and

Bro. Bruce Thurman led in prayer. The congregation then sang " At Calvary" and Bro. David Malone led in prayer. The special music was presented by Sis Andrea Harris. Bro. Mark Shores brought the message from I Kings 18:37-38 and Acts 2:1 concerning the spiritual coldness of many churches and what is needed for the fire of God to fall.

Business session was reconvened and the following reports were given: Memorial Committee- We the Memorial committee would like to express our sympathy to

Motion was sustained to remove the Constitutional changes from the table and to consider them item by item.

Item 1 That the following changes by deletion be made to Article XI Section 2 of our ByLaws " it being understood that such request cannot be granted until one year after it is made. Upon recommendation of the Credentials Committee this waiting period may be waived by a majority vote of the District Conference. Motion was sustained to table and refer to the Credentials committee.

Item 2 That the following changes by deletion be made to Constitution: Article III "both ofwhom shall be ordained ministers of this District Conference." Motion su@ined

Business Committee: We nominate Bro. Jason Taylor as our state executive board ·member for the coming year. Signed Bill Crank, Bob Harrison & Tom Harmon. Motion sustained to receive the report and recommend Bro. Jason Taylor as our Executive Board representative. The following delegates were chosen to represent us at the State Meeting to be held March 16 & 17 at the Pittsburg Church: Jane Harmon,Ron Malone,Jim Price, Wayne Kunde,Lorraine Crank,Pat Thurman, Peggy Outland, Mike Kniffen and Eloise Porter. Motion was made to ajourn the business session.

Worship Service . The service was opened with the congregation singing " Jesus Hold My Hand" and Bro.

Clifford Hicks led in prayer. The special music was presented by Bro. Ted Harmon. Bro. David Malone led in prayer just before Bro. Randy Jones brought the message from I John 1:4-2:3 concerning the thought that God is light and that we must beware of Sin and the Devil. This was followed by a special time at the altar followed by Bro. Mike Kniffen presenting us a challenge conccerning our desire for reaching others. We then sung" Set My Soul Afire" and Sis. Terri Schmidt closed in prayer.

Fly Away" and the pastor Bro. Bill Crank welcomed us to Bethel and he then led in prayer. The congregation then sang " Mansion Over The Hilltop" and the moderator Bro. David Malone recognized the standing delegates. Bro. Bryant Harris read the Church Covenant. The meeting was called to order by the clerk; and the letters were read and a motion was sustained to receive the letters and seat the delegates. The following committees were appointed: .

Memorial Committee: Sisters Darline McNeil and Jean Malone and Bro. Stephen Gray Resolutions Committee: Sisters Peggy Outland & Joyce Price and Bro. Tim Price

Bro. Bruce Thurman was ask to serve on the Credentials committee in the absence of Bros. Randy Jones and Jon Cannon. Motion was sustained to adopt the quarterly report of the Treasurer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The moderator then declared a recess.

Memorial Committee- We the Memorial committee recommend in memory of the following from Bethel : George Shallenbunlg, from Hazel Dell Loyd Stockton, from Peace Melvin Hodge and David Matthews and from Waltonville Erma Jean Hicks, to stand for a moment of silent prayer followed by a prayer by Bro. Bill Crank. Signed Darline McNeil, Jean Malone and Stephen Gray. Motion sustained to receive the report and act upon it.

Resolution Committee: We the Resolutions Committee submit the following report. That we give a rising vote of thanks to the Bethel FWB Church for their hosting the West Central meeting. Signed Peggy Outland, Jim Price and Joyce Price. Motion sustained to receive the report.

Business Committee: We recommend that we raise rhe amount given to our college students from $15 per quarter to $25. Signed Bill Crank, Bob Harrison & Tom Harmon. Motion was sustained to amend by adding the following: That the amount given to widows of pastors at Christmas be raised from $15 to $25. Motion was sustained to adopt the motion as amended.

Credentials Committee: 1. We recommend the following ministers be granted cards of good standing: Gary Portell,

Randall Steelman and Nicholas Hollis. 2. We recommend the following:

1. We recommend that Bro. Tony Whetsel be granted an Exhorter's License and that the one year waiting period be waived.

2. We recommend that Bro. John Read be granted an Exhorter's License and that the one year waiting period be waived. Motion was sustained to receive the report and act upon it item by item.

Item 1-Motion was sustained to grant cards of good standing to Gary Portell, Randall Steelman and Nicholas Hollis.

. Item 2-Motion was sustained to issue Exhorter's License to Bro. Tony Whetsel and the year's waitng period be waived.

Item 3-Motion was sustained to issue Exhorter's License to Bro. John Reel and the year's waitng period be waived. There was no report from our Executive Board member as the Board had not met since the State meeting and a brief report was given concerning the State meetig by one of the delgates that had attended.

Bro. Bob Harrison led in prayer. The congregation that sang " It Is Well With My Soul" and Bro. David Malone led in prayer. Bro. Gene Outland brought the message from Romans 12:1-5 concerning the thought that In light of the cross how does our giving measure up? We were ask" How would you like to give a gift to God?". Bro. Gene closed in prayer. A motion was sustained to adjourn until we meet at Hazel Dell on July 28th. and Bro. Jay Hollis led in prayer.

When We All Get To Heaven" and the pastor Bro. Gene Outland welcomed us to Hazel Dell and he then led in prayer. The congregation then sang" Jesus Is The Sweetest Name I Know". Bro. Bryant Harris read the Church Covenant. The meeting was called to order by the clerk; and the letters were read and a motion was sustained to receive the letters and seat the delegates. The following committees were appointed:

Memorial Committee: Sisters Joyce Price, Leida Downen and Carolyn Reed Resolutions Committee: Bros. Jim Price and Mike Kuhner and Sis. Emra Lee Conner

Motion was sustained to adopt the quarterly report of the Treasurer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The moderator then declared a recess.

Worship Service The service was opened with the congregation singing " Oh How I Love Jesus, I Will

Praise Him, and Look and Live". Bro. David Shores our State Promotional Director shared items concerning the state work. Bro. Rusty Miller brought the special music sharing with us the song entitled " Hiding Place" and Bro. Jon Cannon led in prayer. Bro. Jason Taylor brought the message from Isaiah 6:1-8 and how we are called to Evangelize, EdifY and Exalt Christ.

Business session was reconvened and the following reports were given: Memorial Committee- We the Memorial committee recommend in memory of the

following from Bethel : Clarence Williams, from Hazel Dell Pete Mackalonis, from Bear Point Thelma Webb, that the congregation observe a brief period of silence followed by prayer by Bro. Jon Cannon. Signed Joyce Price, Carol Reed and Leida Downen. Motion sustained to receive the report and act upon it.

Resolution Committee: We the Resolutions Committee wish to Thank the Hazel Dell Church for their hospitality and for the bountiful lunch. Signed Emra Lee Conner, Michael Kuhner and Jim Price. Motion sustained to receive the report.

Business Committee: We recommend the following items: Item 1 Our committee is looking at recommending adoption of an association mission project. We will provide more information next quarterly. If there are any suggestions toward this end, please see one of the business committee. Item 2 We recommend that our program every other quarterly be geared toward a specialty speaker, i.e. Sunday School, youth, music, etc. and that the speaker be given the entire service to allow them time to speak. Speakers could come from various sources with our National Offices being one. Item 3 We nominate Gene Outland to be our State Executive board member. This will fill the term vacated by Jason Taylor. Item 2 - Motion was sustained to adopt item 2 Item 3 -After floor was opened for other nominations a motion was sustained to elect by acclamation.

Credentials Committee: We the Examining Committee recommend that Bro. John Pratt be granted an Exhorter's License, and that the one year waiting period be waived. Signed Bros. Randy Jones, Jon Cannon, and Gene Outland. Motion was sustained to receive the report and act upon it. A report was received concerning the National Association which had just met in Detroit, Michigan, a reminder of Camp Meeting dates September 9-14 and the speaker Bro. John Gibbs. The moderator then gave time for each of the churches to report on how God was working in the District and State.

Worship Service The service was opened with the congregation singing " At Calvary and I know Whom I

have Believed. And Bro. Bob King led in prayer. A youth group from Hazel Dell brought the special music. Bro. Mike Kniffen brought the message from 1 Timothy 2:1-8. He challenged us to consider our prayer life and we closed with an altar of prayer. Motion was sustained to adjourn until we meet at Oak Grove on October 20. The Nason Church switched with the Oak Grove church due to their homecoming being the next day. Bro. Keith Beckman dismissed in prayer.

The Work " and the moderator Bro. David Malone welcomed us to Oak Grove and Bro. Terrell K.niffun led the congregation in prayer. The congregation then sang " Jesus Hold My Hand" . Bro. Bryant Harris read the Church Covenant. The meeting was called to order by the clerk; and the letters were read and a motion was sustained to receive the letters and seat the delegates. The following committees were appointed:

Memorial Committee: Sisters Joyce Price, Donna Harmon and Bro. Mike Kuhner Resolutions Committee: Bros. Jim Price, Herschel Sipes and Sis. Deborah Kniffen

An Auditing committee was appointed: Sisters Marilyn Irvin and Jane Harmon Motion was sustained to adopt the quarterly and yearly report ofthe Treasurer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The moderator then declared a recess.

Worship Service The service was opened with the congregation singing " That Glad Reunion Day" and

Bro. Bob Irvin led in prayer. The congregation then sang" Heaven's Jubilee" and the special music was brought by Bro. Ted Hannon. Bro. David Shores, our State Promotional Director shared some items concerning our state and the work that is going on and then brought the message from Romans 6:4 that our lifestyle should be a witness to the world of our love for Jesus. We are to walk by faith, walk worhty of our calling, walk in love, walk circumspectly and walk in the light. He said that strong Christians walking together build strong churches.

Business session was reconvened and the following reports were given: Memorial Committee- We the Memorial committee in absence of any deaths listed

Resolution Committee: We the Resolutions Committee wish to thank the Oak Grove Church for the hospitality extended to the West Central Quarterly meeting on October 20, 200 l The delicious lunch fulfilled the promises anticipated by the sweet fragances of the food preparation. Signed Deborah Kniffen, Hershel Sipes, and Jim Price. Motion sustained to receive the report.

Business Committee: We would like to recommend that our district purchase a keyboard for use by the camp. The projected cost would be $1500. The money would come from 2 sources: (1) the fees our churches send in and (2) each local church would be encouraged to take offerings or pledges from their membership. Motion sustained.

Examining Committee: Item #1 We recommend that the one year waiting period be waived and that Bro. Darren Christopher Portell be granted Exhorter's License. Item# 2 We recommend that the one year waiting period be waived and that Bro. Stephen Gray be granted Exhorter's License. Motion sustained to receive the report and act upon it item by item. Item # 1 Motion sustained to adopt. Item # 2 Motion sustained to adopt. A report was of the Auditing committee was received and motion was sustained to adopt.

Nominating Committee: The following names were placed in nomination for the coming year:

Motion was sustained to receive the report and act upon position by position. The above names were elected to each position. The resignation ofBro. Bill Crank was received so that he could serve as Moderator. Btro. David Malone's name was placed in nomination to fill Bro. Bill Crank's postion on the Business Committee. Motion sustained to fill the unexpired term of Bro. Crank with Bro. David Malone. A brief report was received by the current Executive Board member.

Worship Service The service was opened with the congregation singing" A Soul Winner for Jesus and Bro.

Bob Harrison led in prayer. Bro. Ross Wells broght the special music. Bro. Larry Cook spoke from Ezekiel2: 1-4 concerning the call that God gives to each pastor to be both a prophet and priest. We are to speak to God on behalf of the people and we are to speak to the people on behalf of God. And offering was received for Bro. Darren Portell who is currently attending FWBBC and is enrolled in the ministrial program. The meeting was declared adjouned by the moderator and Bro. David Malone led in prayer.
