Community Service InitiativesThe team spent time each week visiting the local Macdonough Elementary School in Middletown, serving as role models and mentors to the students. As part of the good behavior program, two lucky students were drawn from a hat to attend one of our games and act as our superfan for the day.

In addition to this volunteering opportunity, the team also raised money for the Wounded Warrior Project and helped propel the Stuff the Nets annual toy drive to its most successful year thus far.

The University budget helps defray some, but not all, of our total budget costs. Your generous support enables us to provide our coaches and players with the tools to compete. This year we are seeking individuals willing to sponsor specific aspects of our budget, including the following items:

▪ New Away UniformsOur current away uniforms are entering their sixth year of use and are in need of replacement. The cost is expected to be around $3,000.

▪ Team MealsOur goal is to provide adequate nutrition for pre-game and post-game meals throughout the season. Each meal runs between $300-$350, generally costing us about $4,000 total.

▪ Assistant Coaching StipendsAdditional funds are utilized to supplement our assistant coach salaries each year. We aim to raise $9,000 to be put towards our two assistant coach positions.

▪ EquipmentEach year our equipment budget includes team sticks, freshmen equipment and other supplemental gear. The cost per player runs about $280.

Budget Breakdown• New Away Jerseys - $3,000• Team Meals - $4,000• Asst. Coach Stipends - $9,000• Team Equipment - $7,000• Miscellaneous Funds - $2,000

Sweet 2016Reflections from the

Graduating Senior Class

#1 Corinne Rivard - Glendale, ArizonaWhat it means to be part of Wesleyan hockey: It is cliche but it means that you have a family, from the moment you step on campus and for the rest of your life you have a support system in place. This is a competitive league and a competitive atmosphere but the lessons that you learn along the way don't just apply to hockey, they translate to everyday life. You are part of something bigger than yourself on this team and it has helped me grow into the person I am today.

Favorite Memory: Can I list a few? 1. My mom flying across the country to see my senior game and seeing how special this program was to me. 2. My first collegiate shutout and NESCAC win against Colby, at home, by a score of 1-0. 3. Making the playoffs my sophomore year for the first time in 10 years.

After Wesleyan: I will be a Research Coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston in the Program for Nutritional Metabolism. My hopes are to enter medical school afterwards.

Advice For Returners: These four years will be some of the most challenging yet rewarding years of your life. Stay humble, be gracious, and work the hardest you have ever worked on and off the ice and it will pay off. It is a privilege to play this amazing sport and it is worth everything.

#5 Lottie Barton - Kenai, AlaskaWhat it means to be part of Wesleyan hockey: What an incredible, unforgettable ride I've had being a part of this team. Going into my freshman year, I had expectations about what college hockey would be like. My experience on this team met and exceeded these expectations. I have gained countless close friends that I can count on to drop everything for me, and that I would do the same for in a heartbeat. I wouldn't trade any of the triumphs or heartbreaks that I went through with my teammates for anything.

Favorite Memory: I will never forget sweeping Hamilton my sophomore year to clinch our spot in the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. I loved all of the "class dinners" I had with my fellow seniors over the past four years. Also, this may not be my favorite memory, but I will definitely never forget Jodi relabeling "throwing up" as having "a case of the Lotties."

After Wesleyan: Next year I will be a Teaching Fellow at Cushing Academy, where I will be teaching science and coaching hockey.

Advice For Returners: During both happy and challenging times, don't forget to take a step back and realize what you have at your disposal. You have an awesome coaching staff to guide you and help you improve on and off the ice. You have the rare and incredible opportunity to play college hockey that a lot of your past teammates did not get the opportunity to do. But most importantly, you have 20+ incredible, intelligent, and supportive women by your side who have your best interests in mind and are working towards the same goal as you. These four years happen so incredibly fast; cherish them while they're still happening.

#7 Laura Mead- Morristown, New JerseyWhat it means to be part of Wesleyan hockey: It means to have a family that through thick or thin will stand by you no matter what. The program has had a great influence on my character and who I believe myself to be today. I hope to stay in touch with the coaches and my former teammates through social media as well as visit for home games whenever I can.

Favorite Memory: It's hard to say which memory with the team is my favorite as there are so many. To be frank, many of these happened outside of the rink with the pressure of hockey taken off of us. The team is made up of my closest friends on campus and any time spent with them is a great one.

After Wesleyan: Next year, I will be moving to New York City and starting my job as an Associate Account Executive at a marketing company called Epsilon. I will be living with another former WeWoHo member graduating this year with me, Laura Corcoran.

Advice For Returners: "Don't worry about the future, or worry but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing Bubble gum." "Do one thing everyday that scares you." Being a member of this team has showed me how not to throw in the towel when things get rough. I've learned that you're better off in the long run trying again because at the end of the day, you can walk away and say you gave it your all.

#24 Jenny Robinson - Carlise, MAWhat it means to be part of Wesleyan hockey: Being a part of this team means you have a family from the second you get accepted, and continuing for the rest of your life. It means you have people willing to do anything for you without question because you have gone through things both amazing and heartbreaking with them. I can’t wait to, come back next year to watch games (and watch the Amherst game because I’ll be in Amherst!) and hopefully play pick up with some of my, graduating class this fall.

Favorite Memory: My favorite memory was actually all four Cardinal Cup days we had throughout my four years here. It took me four years to win one, but playing hockey in such a competitive and low pressure way was really fun. I think during the season it can be easy to be frustrated and get wrapped up in the mental side. Cardinal Cup days remind the team that it’s a game and that we play it because we love it.

After Wesleyan: I will be attending UMass-Amherst business school this fall.

Advice For Returners: The most important part of this team is the people you are with, take care of them and don’t take it for granted that you have people willing to take a bullet for you. It’s rare to find so many people with so many different backgrounds and opinions all working towards the same goal. Forget about everything that is happening outside, and off the ice and behind the scenes, and just play because you love it and because you don’t get to do it for much longer.

#30 Laura Corcoran - Toronto, OntarioWhat it means to be part of Wesleyan hockey: It is really hard to put into words what being a member of the Wesleyan Women’s Hockey program has meant to me. This team has had a profound impact on my college experience and on my life as a whole. The rewarding yet demanding schedule of a student-athlete has certainly helped mold me into the person I am today, and instills a work ethic that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have built lifelong relationships with not only my teammates, but the coaching staff as well. All of these people have taught me so much about myself, and stood by me through some of the best and some of the hardest moments of my life. This type of unwavering support is something that you do not find everyday, and this has been a truly special part of my life here at Wes.

Favorite Memory: It sounds cliché but I would have to say all of the hilarious moments I have shared with my teammates over the last four years. My teammates have been some of my best friends throughout my time at Wes and I think when I look back I will remember my time with them more than anything else. In terms of an on-ice memory, getting to play in the first playoff game since 2004 was incredible.

After Wesleyan: I will be working as a business analyst for McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, in their New York City office.

Advice For Returners: Enjoy it! Seriously. It goes by unbelievably quickly so soak up every moment. Play hard, focus, put the work in day in and day out, but never lose the fun in the game. We commit to working crazy hard for four years because we love to play hockey-- do not lose sight of that. Work hard in the classroom as well. Wesleyan is an amazing school which can open so many doors if you are willing to put the work in!
