Thank you, Wesley, for the new media and
sanctuary audio-visual upgrade! Also, thank
you to Kim Kletschke and the HCI Team; Kevin
Arends and the Worship Team; Dave Welte,
and the Trustees, Ko Noble our Media
Specialist and Connie Alzheimer for technical
advice and all offering leadership and guidance
for a smooth transition in providing fruitful
worship and ministry media capabilities.
Already we are SEEING and HEARING a big
difference! It is so wonderful to SEE a much
sharper image on the front wall. Also, it is now
so helpful to have a new screen in the back for
the music teams and worship leaders to see the
liturgy, lyrics, PowerPoints and videos that the
rest of the congregation sees. The new track
lighting, with the ability to dim or brighten by
remote control, beautifully provides a nice
lighted area whenever preaching and an-
nouncements take place on the floor area in
front of the platform. The new sanctuary video
camera has also helped to enhance special
worship moments such as baptisms or chil-
dren’s messages where we can zero in with
up-close images for all to clearly see and enjoy.
Also, we now have our worship shown live in
the nursery via a new 45-inch flat screen TV.
Eventually we hope to have services and
sermons shown on-line after we upgrade our
website. So many new media blessings!
Finally, thanks to ALL OF YOU who have
contributed financially to support this vital
ministry. I thank God that we can count on our
church family whenever a challenge, need or
opportunity is presented that many willing and
able followers of Jesus are so ready to respond.
A more recent example of faith motivated
response is our Servant Leadership Team,
led by our Lay Leader Mary Green-Warnstad.
They worked hard work in promoting a very
successful Discipleship Pathways Workshop a
few weeks ago. Other churches on our district
participated and we had a good response from
our fellowship. It was taught and led by our
District Field Outreach Minister Rev. Ryan
Christenson who inspired all with great teaching
and guidance on taking next steps toward
greater discipleship considering the unique
calling of each local church. Ryan was to
preach at our services on April 15 which was
unfortunately canceled due to the weather.
Fortunately, Ryan has left a message for us that
can be found on our Facebook page, or can be
found on YouTube with this link: https://
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6URBSVA-
Zhw&feature=share .
At the workshop our Wesley group was
particularly spirited in discussion, offering
many great ideas. Ryan encourages us to be
focused in a few key areas starting with
intentional focus on prayer ministry. I so
appreciate how Dee Ashley, Tylene Woods and
Kathy Gross-Edelman offered very inspiring
practical helps on prayer and spiritual growth
during last Sunday’s April 22nd worship
services.
I am so encouraged by all the exciting action
steps that will be revealed more fully in the
coming, days, weeks, and months! It all begins
and ends with complete surrender to Jesus as
His faithful disciples!
Blessings, Todd

I've spoken with Matt Salvatore, the Parks and Rec Director for the City of Sioux City, and have told him that Wesley UMC is again interested in helping our city by cleaning the restrooms and picking up trash near the skate park at Cook Park. Several people have told me that they are again interested in helping with this pro-ject, but I'd also like to let others know that they are welcome to join us. People are needed for Monday mornings for about an hour from 9:00 -10:00 a.m. What we do is clean the restrooms, pick up trash, and pray for all who will enter the park that day. No special equipment or skills necessary -- just a heart willing to serve! Our first day will be May 14th. Volunteers can reach me at 712-490-1369, or [email protected]. Blessings, Kathy Martin

Thank You From:
My children, grandchildren, and I want to express our sincere appreciation for the cards and memorials sent, and especially for the prayers lifted up on our behalf as we continue to mourn the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and wife. Your compassion and support have made our grief bearable. From the first time we entered this church, Marilyn and I felt the love that radiates from the Wesley Family. We were overwhelmed by its power at this difficult time in our lives. Again, thanks to all, and especially to Pastor Todd. May God richly bless this church as its members try to carry on His mission. The second phase of the media project has been underway. Many of the upgrades are behind the scenes and may not be noticeable to the average person. The most visible part of the upgrade is the installation of a more powerful projection system for the front of the sanctuary. This makes the slides easier to view and the quality is substantially better. We moved the old projection
system to project on a screen on the back wall. For the first time, our worship leaders, musicians, choir members and anyone up front can see the same thing you see in the pews. A remote controlled TV camera was installed above the sanctuary doors. This allows us to get better visuals in the front of the sanctuary and we can resume recording our services. A piece of equipment called a switcher was installed so we can choose what visuals are being recorded. It also allows us the ability to display on the screens what the TV camera sees such as the children’s sermons. The computer system was upgraded to handle updated software and run more efficiently. A second wireless microphone headset was purchased so we have an emergency back up for Pastor Todd and can use it in other places of the service where hands free use will be helpful such as the children’s sermons. A row of track lights were installed in the sanctuary to light the front floor where Pastor Todd often delivers his sermons. Wiring was installed from the media room to the nursery so our services can be viewed by Lori Betsworth, our nursery attendant. Thank you to all who have generously supported this project with your prayers and gifts! Kim Kletschke

God and My Girlfriends
Thanks, Mom!
At his graduation, a young
man tasked with giving a
speech began reading from
some notes. “I want to talk
about my mother and the
wonderful influence she had
on my life,” he said. “She’s a shining
example of parenthood, and I love her more
than words can ever do justice.”
The graduate then paused, appeared to
struggle a moment and looked up at the
audience with a mischievous smile. “It’s
really hard to read my mom’s handwriting,”
he said. The NewsletterNewsletter

Thanks to everyone who has pledged and donated funds toward Phase II of the Media Project – the response has been amazing. However, there is still about a $5,000 shortfall to fully fund this project. The Finance Team and Ad Council decided to proceed with the project in order to lock in the bid prices and avoid cost increases.
Please pray for God’s continued blessing on this project and consider giving a gift or making a pledge toward it.
Please prayerfully consider STEPPING IN FAITH to help fully fund Phase II of our Media Project. Jackie Nohr
