BI-MONTHLY NEWSLETTER | WESLEY CHAPEL UMC | JUNE/JULY 2019

There is only one place in the world you can go where Jesus walked on the earth: the Holy Land. Last October, eighteen people from Wesley Chapel walked where Jesus walked. It was a life-changing experience. In Jerusalem, we walked the path called the Via Dolorosa, where Jesus carried the cross. We sat in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. We were in Bethlehem where Jesus was born. We waded into the Jordan River where John the Baptist baptized Jesus.

I want to invite you to go with me to the Holy Land and walk where Jesus walked. You will go to the hill where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount in the book of Matthew. You will see the home of Peter where Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law. You will visit the Caesarea where Peter met Cornelius in Acts 10. You will visit Jericho, the town that fell at the feet of Joshua as the Hebrews entered the Promised Land.

You will put your hand on the Western Wall, a section of the Temple from Jesus’ day where Jesus drove out the money-changers and taught his disciples. You will go to Caesarea Philippi where Peter confessed, “You are the Christ,” to which Jesus replied, “Upon this rock I will build my church.”

The Holy Land trip is March 15-29, 2021. It will be the trip of a lifetime. Brochures are available at the church office and at the Welcome Center. If you believe you will like to go with me and a group from Wesley Chapel, I would be happy to be in conversation with you.

Grace and peace, Pastor Tony Alstott

Childcare will be provided for children 4 and under.

Rehearsals for these dates are the Thursday's before the choir dates June 20, July 25, and August 29 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel. Power Up! Defeat the Debt! “Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not panic or be terrified by them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory” (Deuteronomy 20:3-4).

Our Extravagant Generosity team is proclaiming June “Defeat the Debt!” month. Every dollar given toward the Capital Campaign during the month of June will be put toward debt reduction. God has been so faithful to bless us. The success of our current capital campaign has put us in a position to power up by focusing on one month of giving toward debt reduction. Since 2013, our $2.5 million dollar loan has been reduced to $1.7 million dollars. Your generosity has allowed us to pay our monthly “house” payment of $16,000. We have also made some wonderful improvements. We added restrooms near the youth and children that increased safety and convenience. We upgraded the technology in several classrooms. We were able to make our playground safer by improving the drainage. We extended the rock wall at the entrance that improved the beauty of the property and increased safety because it stopped slippery mud from flowing onto the entrance. We were able to upgrade from a van to a minibus which is handicap accessible. Thank you for your generosity. You are making a difference. God is faithful. God gives us the power to give us the victory. Please prayerfully consider making a donation to the Capital Campaign this June to help Defeat the Debt! Once the debt is reduced to $0 dollars, we will be in a greater position to use our resouces to Power Up!

Wesley Chapel Family, Thank you for helping me celebrate my 90th birthday. Thanks to those who came and for the lovely cards and sweet notes. Special memories remain for me and my family. Thank you sincerely, Mary Latimer and family

Wesley Chapel Family, Thank you for the beautiful plant, the cards, visits, etc. Thank you for being my mom’s church family whom she loved dearly. Also, thank you for being our church family. You made this difficult time more bearable with your love. Rusty and Debbie The Gillis family

Wesley Chapel Family, Thank you for the wonderful meal during my mother’s memorial. Your kindness is much appreciated. Mary and Smitty
