January 21, 2018 We’re glad you’re here! Thank you for being a part of today’s assembly at Collegeside.
We hope you will be uplifted and strengthened as we worship
and praise God together.
Our Welcome Center is located at the right as you exit the
Christian Life Center.
What you’ll find at the Welcome Center:
• A warm greeting from a Collegeside member.
• A list of Bible classes and where to find them.
• Details about ministries and how to get involved.
• More ways we can meet your needs.
“Be Still, and Know That I am God”
“Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations He has brought on
the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow
and shatters the spear; He burns the shields with fire. He says, ‘Be still, and
know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in
the earth.’ The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
Psalm 46:8-11
German researchers studied the effects of noise exposure from aircraft on children in the early 1990’s. The researchers after testing a cross-section of children living in the flight path of an old airport and later when a new airport (with much less noise) replaced the old airport found that the children scored lower in reading comprehension and in long-term memory skills during the first test but began to score higher when the new airport was functioning.
Noise affects our ability to process information. Perhaps this is one reason our Lord encourages us to “Be still, and know that I am God.” It can be hard to hear the voice of God when I allow the “noise” of the world (TV, entertain-ment, sports. being too busy, etc.) to flood my life with its noise. I think I will go find me a quiet place with my Bible and take some time with God. My soul could use some restoring and to recall that “the Lord Almighty is with us”. How about you?
Never give up,
JR

Our 4th Annual Martin Luther King Day
Munch was a rich experience. About 70
people from age 3 months to 93 gathered
in the gym for lunch, fellowship and some
discussion of the past and future.
It has been a difficult year in our country
for race relations. It was good to come to-
gether and confess that truth as we pray
for progress towards racial harmony in the
coming year.
We were blessed to hear from Hector Black,
a civil rights attorney who actually knew
and represented Dr. King. Also, Harmon
Wattenbarger shared his prize winning
entry from last year’s Interfaith Peace Pro-
ject’s essay contest.
This year’s essay, poetry, and art contest
has the theme “Peace, Love and Communi-
ty. I have more info for any students who
would like to submit an entry this year.
May God bless us as we seek to find unity
