Project Manager
Responsible for the management and coordination of nine research projects, funded by the European Union,
with a total income worth €4.2mil. to the company. Each project having a total budget ranging from €1.5mil. to
€4.7mil. Also dealing with large multi-cultural consortiums and a diverse collection of skill sets ranging from
junior admin and technical staff to director roles, some projects with up to fifteen partners involved.
Key tasks
To deliver projects on time and within budget
Manage all consortium partnerships by high quality and timely communication
Set-up and maintain all internal reporting on all the financial and administrative parts of the projects
Oversee communication with the stakeholders including the European Union’s project officers and
financial officers, both written and verbal, to ensure delivery of the project results are relayed in a
professional and timely manner
Assist in writing and managing deliverable reports for submission to the EU
Orchestrate submissions to the EU website of all deliverable, periodic and financial reports in line with
the EU Grant Agreement
Arrange and chair project board and management meetings including dissemination and exploitation
Organise meetings and events in the UK and all over Europe, including accommodation and conference
facilities
Travel throughout Europe on a regular basis as part of the project management
Oversee set up of project websites and maintain them over the project lifetime
Weekly management reporting with the delivery manager including risk and crisis management and
managing technical staff in their roles within the projects.

Key tasks
Part of the management team, making critical decisions on the running of the company
Managing the operational accounts office and assisting in the general office administration for over 14

Managing two staff, overseeing their training and supporting them in their roles

Preparing management accounts and year-end accounts for review with the MD
Overseeing the annual accounts audit.
Day to day duties: purchase ledger including payment of suppliers, sales ledger including credit control,

preparation and input of monthly journals including prepayments and accruals, incorporation of internal

Management Accountant
Preparation of client’s management accounts including liaising with clients, general bookkeeping, input into the
company’s unique accounts software and including in depth knowledge of the software and general IT support.
The ten years with the company involved a de-merger from Meeson Makinson (Chartered Accountants) and a
merger with MacIntyre Hudson (Chartered Accountants) where my role started as the company’s accountant
and administrator with IT support to the whole company. The merger with MM saw me joining the small
accounts unit dealing directly with the clients on a day to day basis and performing general bookkeeping through
to management accounts and annual audits. This role continued with the formation of the company BBHW
where I also covered more in depth auditing.

Seeboard June 1983 – July 1986
Accounts controller and debt collector
Looking after customer’s electricity accounts and chasing overdue accounts via telephone and post. Cashiers
role included cash collection and end of day cashing up and daily reconciliation.

Part of the WSCA (PRA coating journal) editing team, the role included general office duties, typing, assisting
the editor with the abstracts for WSCA.
