A Tradition of Craftsmanship

Heritage…a word that has almost lost any meaning at all in the busyness of life in the 21st century. However, at Wendell August, the word Heritage still carries with it significance and meaning. You see, for 84 years we have handed down from one generation of craftsmen to the next the time honored tradition of metalworking known as repousse. Our founder, Mr. Wendell August, worked with great American artisans with names such as Donato, Rossi, and Pisoni. Today, our artisans and craftsmen have names such as Bruck, Youngo, McBane, Royer, and Summerville and they carry on the Heritage of handcraftsmanship begun by Mr. August and his band of Italian immigrants.

From our Heritage, we create your Heirlooms, which have been handed down from family member to family member. We’ve commemorated births and weddings together. We’ve shared other important milestones and events with you as well.

Domestic artisans and small workshops created much of the giftware for homes in the United States. How times have (unfortunately) changed. But here at Wendell August, we are committed to preserving old fashioned American values and virtues of artistry, handcraftsmanship, and quality.
