Ang has been at Wembley Primary School since 2012 and has made a significant contribution in the many roles she has undertaken during this time. Ang has been a member of the Teacher Class, Leading Teacher and Assistant Principal and has undertaken many roles in these positions. She has been a class teacher, leader of digital learning including the One to One Program, instructional leader, coach, mentor, member of School Council, leader of the Intervention Program across the school and in all of these Ang has done an amazing job. There are many things that we will miss about Ang but most of all her curriculum knowledge, instructional practice, knowledge and skill in the area of digital communications, commitment to students, passion for teaching, support for staff, eye for detail, wizardry with timetables, professionalism and collegiality. We have been so lucky to have had Ang as part of the Wembley Primary School Community over the last seven years and it’s now time for her to leave us for an exciting challenge of building a new school community at Saltwater P-9 College. On behalf of the entire school community we wish Ang all the very best in her new position and her future career in education. Setting up a new school, whilst challenging, provides a wonderful opportunity to establish a clear vision for the future and Ang, whilst working alongside Jackie, will do an amazing job at Saltwater P-9 College. There is no doubt that Ang will be greatly missed at Wembley but her legacy will continue at our school. From the Principals Student Clothing Please ensure that your child’s clothing is clearly labelled with their name and class. This will ensure that, if they accidentally leave a jacket or hat in the playground, it will be returned to them and not end up in the lost property cupboard. Parents are also asked to regularly check the clothing that is brought home, to ensure it does in fact belong to your child and has not been mistakenly taken.

Farewell to Angela Petridis This week we farewell one of our leaders, Angela Petridis (Ang).

Victorian Primary Schools State Hockey Championship On Thursday 11 students from Years 5 & 6 will be representing Wembley in the Victorian Primary Schools State Championship for Hockey at the Footscray Hockey Centre. The teams have been training before school under the care of their dedicated coach, Kristen Kosowski. Eight teams will be playing a series of fifteen minute matches at the following times: 10.20am, 12.00pm and 1.40pm. Wembley will be playing teams from metropolitan schools and country schools as far away as Warrnambool. Students from Year 5 will be walking to the centre to cheer on our teams throughout the day. All of our budding hockey players are congratulated for progressing to such a prestigious level in the competition and are wished well for a successful day. Parents are invited to come along and support our times throughout the day too. Football Lunch and Colours Day at Wembley On Tuesday 18 September there will be free dress day to celebrate the Grand Final. Students are able to come to school in their footy colours to support their favourite AFL team. The canteen will be holding a special Footy Lunch on this day. Parents are reminded that the date for ordering the Footy Lunch has passed and that no further orders can be accepted. The canteen will not be serving any other food on Tuesday so if you have not pre-ordered a Footy Lunch your child will need to bring their lunch from home on this day. JSC 60th Birthday Disco The disco will be held in the hall next Thursday 20 September and everyone is invited. Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students can attend between 5.00-6.00pm and the disco will be open from 6.30-7.30pm for students in Years 3-6. Every student must be signed out by an adult at the conclusion of their session. Students can bring a clearly labelled water bottle and no student will be permitted to leave the hall during the disco. Thank you to DJ Dadtastic for supplying the music and equipment. How do you want your oceans to look like in 60 years? This art installation was made with finger painted sea creatures and plastics of the year's 1s and 2s at Wembley Primary school as part of their artist inclusion program by Serene Lau. They were task to make a vision of the ocean they want 60 years in the future with a twist...it had to have plastics in it too.

Each student made a sea creature and an item of plastic they have used that day. The plastic they used represented the plastics that already exist in the ocean. They also chose the amount of copies of their plastics they want in their future oceans knowing that they can't do the same with their sea creatures.

These designs are available for purchase on the artist redbubble store where 20% of the profits will be donated to a local ocean cleanup organisation in Melbourne, Australia.

be no classes Friday 23rd November due to 3/4
