(spell-a-thon, family photos). Being part of the P&C you will be contributing to the enhancement of our children's experience at primary school. Don’t be scared to come along…. Please don’t be scared to attend the AGM or a P&C meeting, a commonly held perception that by just showing up at a meeting you are suddenly running the fete. We promise this will never happen. Other than being on the executive or a sub-committee, volunteering as part of the P&C at Wellers Hill is project based, so that there is always an identified commitment and timeframe. The truth about our meetings…. People also have the perception that meetings go for hours and hours. This is not the case at Wellers Hill, we know everyone is busy so we aim for meetings to close around 8:30pm. The AGM should last about 30 minutes. P&C Meetings are great to hear all about everything going on at the school (in advance) and provides a forum for discussion and information sharing. The meetings are also where new projects to be undertaken by the P&C are discussed and decisions made to enhance our children’s school. So come along to a meeting, sign up to our email list, like the P&C Facebook page to see what it is all about.

Fundraising:

Please bring your vouchers to the box in the School Office or drop off to the P&C Office. We also have a box at Greenslopes Coles.

Only 2 weeks left!

Cross Country Volunteers required Our P.E Teacher, Mr Grennan, and the Sports Support Group (SSG) is keen to have some volunteers to help with the Senior Cross Country event on Monday 26 th March (Week 10) between 8.50am and 10.00am. Please email [email protected] to register your interest.

EASTER RAFFLE

SUPPORTING OUR CHAPLAINCY PROGRAM

Would you like to win this beautiful basket of Easter bunnies and eggs? Over the coming week, tickets will be sold in the undercover area each morning. For just $1 per ticket, you could be taking this home just in time for Easter! The lucky winner will be announced on Wednesday next week. Please give our Easter Raffle your enthusiastic support. Remember, it’s not just about the chocolate – it’s also about supporting our chaplain, so that she can support all of us!

P&C Service News: Reminder about the P&C Services Committee - The Tuckshop and Uniform Shop are managed by a Services Committee, a sub-committee of the P&C. It is more like an ideas/think tank group who look at the practical elements of both shops – menu items, uniforms, pricing, etc. There is no treasurer or staffing/money issues to deal with. We meet once a term, on a Friday afternoon between 2 and 3, finishing up in time for the school bell and home-time. We have a coffee in the tuckshop for an hour and throw around ideas about both shops. As convenors we appreciate outside ideas – sometimes we can be too close to the issues to get perspective and other ideas can help us think outside the box. If you think this is something you might be interested in please email the P&C – [email protected], or simply turn up at our first meeting on Friday 23rd March in the tuckshop at 2pm. It is not a “work heavy” sub-committee but can be your way to contribute to the school’s P&C. TUCKSHOP NEWS. The term has gone so fast. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers. We truly value your help in the tuckshop. Have a safe and Happy Easter. See you in Term 2 – Carolyn, Kimberley and Akane

Don’t forget this Friday 23 rd March is the last day for ordering your “Back to 1 982” menu specials. See Flexischools for details.

If you are unable to do your tuckshop roster please contact us as soon as possible. If you would like to volunteer in the tuckshop, our phone number is 3249 1318 or you can call Carolyn (0409 053 742). You can also email [email protected].

Uniform Shop Lost Property - Jumpers Parents please note that any lost jumpers will now be placed on a set of shelves just around the corner from where the lost property is currently located (so they face the undercover area just before the stairs leading up to the classrooms). This is so that the notification system works as the sensor is in the shelving. If you have an orange tag on your jumper, please make sure you activate the code, and you will be advised if the jumper has been placed on the shelves. Orders from 2017 Parents please be aware that all orders placed in 2017 are in stock and are ready for collection. These orders will not be held after the end of this term. If you are unsure about something you thought you might have ordered and are waiting for, please email the shop - [email protected] SCHOOL AGE CARE SERVICE (SACCS) Easter Vacation Care – Please remember that you are required to sign and return to SACCS the permissions for your child to participate in our excursions or swimming activities. Attention – There are still a few places available on some days. If you still need a care during the Vacation Care you need to regularly check on QK Enrol for any cancellations that will allow you to book your children in.

Please note - SACCS is closed when we take children on excursions and no alternative care on site is available.

We need your help: To organise our activity this Vacation Care we need to collect many Pop Tops from drink bottles. Please help us in collecting these items. Kylie Brown (SACCS Director) will be on leave from fr om Tuesday 3rd to Friday 6th April 2018. Please continue to email her on [email protected] . in her absence as she will respond on her return.

Sub-Committee News: Music Support Group (MSG) About the MSG The Music Support Group (MSG), a sub-committee of the P&C, supports the music program by fundraising for new instruments, helping to organise the school music concerts and talent show, assisting with communications, and managing uniform loan items and second hand uniforms. The MSG committee meets 2-3 times per term on a Tuesday night. For more information, contact the MSG at [email protected]. (Note: for questions about your child's music lessons or rehearsals, or to advise of your child's absence from a music activity, please contact the relevant music teacher directly.) New members/volunteers needed We would love to see some new faces at our meetings. All parents/carers are welcome and absolutely no music knowledge or experience is needed. The next meeting is 7pm, 17 April 2018 in the WHSS staff room. For more information, contact the MSG at [email protected] - or just come along to a meeting and find out what we do. MSG email list If your child is new to the music program this year, or you haven't received any emails from the MSG, please subscribe to our email list. This will ensure you receive communications relevant to your child's ensemble(s) or the music program as a whole. An online sign up form is available from the music program page on the WHSS website (https://wellhillss.eq.edu.au/ Extracurricular/Music/). ANZAC Day ceremony Senior Choir, Senior Band and Camerata Strings will be performing at the school ANZAC Day ceremony on Tuesday 24th April (week 2 of term 2). These students will be required to wear their performance uniform to school that day, and take their school uniform to change in to later. Please check that your child has everything they need for their performance uniform and that it still fits in preparation for this event. Note:

• If you haven't already done so, please purchase a tie before this performance (see more information on ties below)

• MSG will issue cummerbunds for boys in Senior Choir prior to this performance (on loan, to be returned at end of year)

• Students do not need to wear blazers for this event.

No more loan ties The MSG will no longer be loaning out ties - all students in the music program will now need to purchase a tie from the WHSS Uniform Shop (girls ties $9.50; boys bow ties $11). Some second hand ties are also available (see second hand uniform information below). Please ensure you write your child's name on the back of their tie. Due to the number of students now in the music program, time required to manage the loan scheme, and loss of too many ties each year it is no longer feasible for the MSG to provide the ties.

WHSS P&C Newsletter 6

Music performance uniforms All students in the music program (choirs, bands, strings) will need the following items to wear for performances: black pants, white music shirt, tie (button on tie for girls and bow tie for boys), black shoes, black socks and royal blue hair ribbon for girls. The pants, shirts and ties can be purchased new from the Uniform Shop. There is also a limited supply of second hand music uniform items available in the Uniform Shop (see second hand uniform information below). Please name all of your child's items (students are required to get changed at school for some performances and things do get lost). Uniform items that will be provided on loan by the MSG are: cummerbund for boys in Senior Choir only; blazer for students in Chamber Choir, Senior Band, Senior Strings and Camerata Strings; and vest for students in Jazz Band. These loan items will be issued to students prior to their first performance for the year. Second hand music uniforms Second hand uniforms are now available for sale in the Uniform Shop (please note there is a limited number of second hand items available). Cash only for second hand music uniforms All funds raised from second hand music uniforms will go back into the music program to purchase new instruments and support music events for our students. Donations gratefully accepted If you have any music uniform items you no longer need, please consider donating them for sale (they can be dropped into the Uniform Shop when open, or to the school office any time).

Thank you for your support.
