David Casso UmpireChandler AZ ‐ Born: May 30, 1948Presenter: Les Novak (HoF 2002), St. Louis Park MN and Ron Brinkman (HoF 2013), Appleton WIDavid Casso’s induction proudly sponsored by

Murphy's Fish & Chips / Dave T. Anderson, Truro NSDavid Casso was born in Whittier CA and spent his youthful years in Southern California enjoyingparticipation in an abundance of sports through high school as well as college. Academically, hegraduated from Fresno State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in historyand physical education and Northern Arizona University earning a Master’s Degree in EducationalLeadership.Sports became his passion and he dedicated a career to officiating - initially with high schoolfootball, basketball and baseball. In due course, David was arbitrating major college baseball inthe Pacific Athletic Conference (PAC 12). It was while living in California that David was encouraged to umpire fast-pitch softball. His first assignment was a match between six-timeworld champions Long Beach Nitehawks and the 1973 world champion Lakewood Jets. Davidloved the speed and athleticism of the sport - and he was hooked! In 1977 he umpired the ISCWorld Tournament in Phoenix AZ, a start to a nineteen year career as a fast-pitch umpire at thehighest level.David diversified his career with work in Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and the InternationalHockey League (IHL). Recently David completed twenty seasons as an “off-ice” official in the Na-tional Hockey League (NHL), including some Stanley Cup games.David’s sports officiating has now eclipsed four decades and what he remembers the most arenot the games…but the players - the outstanding athletes who competed who were not onlytremendously skilled, but also quality individuals. David’s first and foremost memory on the diamonds is working with two other Hall of Famemembers – Les Novak (HoF 2002) and Bob Minshall (HoF 2000) as part of a three-man crew. Hestates that “having them as partners for many years made coming to the park enjoyable andnever without excitement. Those two were top notch officials who were well respected and be-came great friends.”A specific memorable game was the legendary 1981 marathon 34 inning, 2-1 game in SaginawMI featuring Saginaw’s Peter Finn and Madison WI’s Peter Meredicth that lasted seven hoursand 26 minutes. In addition, David also cites the privilege of officiating with otherISC Hall of Fame members Tom Boyd (2016), Ron Brinkman (2013)and Maggie Banales (2005). Having a strong interest in changing children’s lives, David servedas a high school Social Studies teacher and moved into school ad-ministration prior to his retiring from his academic career,David confirms that he is lucky and thankful to be married to hisbest friend Vicki and together they have four children Miley, Lind-sey, Madison and David. As well, they have five grandchildren – Rex,Marilyn, David Jr., Brody and Braxton.

Chris DeLarwelle OutfielderDenmark WI ‐ Born: August 13, 1967Presenter: Don Garvey, Appleton WIChris DeLarwelle’s induction proudly sponsored by Circle Tap (Darren Derricks), Denmark WIFrom his first steps in Forestville WI in the 1970s, Chris was active and athletic. In the 1980s whileplaying as a three-sport athlete (baseball, basketball and football) with the Eagles of SouthernDoor High School in Brussels WI, baseball was his focus. He played at the University of Wisconsin– Oshkosh where as a member of the Titans from 1987-90 he earned the 1990 Division III Playerof the Year honors and was a two-time (1989-90) 1st Team NCAA Division III All-American. Hegraduated with a degree in Finance. With his obvious elite baseball skills, Chris spent three years as a member of Major League Base-ball’s Minnesota Twins minor league system.Having watched his brothers play fastpitch softball for years, Chris never played until 1993 whenhe joined the Denmark WI Dukes where he enjoyed four seasons. In 1997 Rod Peterson recruitedChris for the established Madison WI Farm Tavern team where he shared in winning ISC titles in1997 and 1999, book-ended around a 2nd place finish in ’98. With Farm Tavern, Chris earned anAll World 1st Team designation in 1998, sandwiched between 2nd team laurels in 1997 and 1999. In 2002, Chris joined his good friend Darren Derricks and the Denmark WI Circle Tap squad, withthe team making top four finishes back-to-back in 2003-04. Chris again earned ISC All-World1st team accolades in 2003, 2004 and 2008. Following a brief retirement, Chris returned to CircleTap as a veteran contributor in the ISC tournaments in 2012 and 2013. Chris’ distinguished ISC career spanned 21 seasons during which he claimed a spot with the na-tional Team USA from 1999 to 2009 winning a Pan Am silver medal in 1999 and an ISF bronzemedal in 2000.Chris readily acknowledges that four individuals had huge influences on his success – John Miller(HoF 2012) who got him involved with Denmark Dukes; Rod Peterson (Hof 1994) whose no-non-sense approach provided an opportunity to compete at the highest level; Denny Bruckert (HoF2008) who selected Chris to be part of Team USA in 1999; and Chris’ friend and patron DarrenDerricks for providing a local opportunity to play at the highest level with life-long friends. For the past 19 years, Chris has been a 7th Grade Math teacher and also started a part-time hit-ting instruction business. He and wife Sheryl, son Cade and daughter Brynn acknowledge how

lucky they are to have the thingsthey do, and they feel blessed tobe part of the close-knit, tightand relatively small softballcommunity that has created somany friendships.
