English and Maths We have flexible groupings and all groups will

cover the year 2 curriculum. Key change is pace.

SATs – The key change is children are to meet age expected outcomes. There are no levels anymore (SAT’s meeting nearer the time).

Homework – Fortnightly rotation between maths and English. Activities will be linked to previous weeks learning within school. Please encourage your child to complete independently.

Ways to help your child at home

Practice rapid recall of there number skills◦ number bonds to 10 and 20 and corresponding number facts to 100.◦ recall doubles to 20 and then 100 and to know corresponding halves

facts Regularly read a range of books with your child and discuss what has

happened in the book and the impact this has on the reader. SPaG – correct them if their grammar is not quite right! – was and were Encourage them to get involved in real maths: ◦ Identify what times events happen – use the clock◦ Discussing how much items cost◦ Using coins to pay for small values

Support them with their times tables - 10s, 2’s, 5’s and 3’s Practice cursive handwriting Suggested Apps – Penguin maths, spelling for kids, champions
