The Curriculum over the years
Years 8 and 9 follow a similar curriculum.
In ability sets for more subjects: Science and PE.
Girls choose their KS4 options in the Spring term of Year 9, then in start the Key Stage 4 (GCSE) programme in Year 10.
Year 10 and 11 students get far more choice of what to study.
Core: Maths, English, Science, PE, PSHE, RS.

AssessmentNational Curriculum Levels
National Curriculum Levels range from level 1 to level 8, with level 8 the most advanced. Each level is split into sub-levels that are like the old grade system with 'a' as the best, 'b' in the middle and 'c' toward the bottom of that level. So a 5a is better than a 5c, and a 5c is better than a 4a.
levels are the same throughout infant, primary, junior and secondary school (and are used right up to year 9 before switching to GCSEs) - this means that someone on a 5a in year 9 should theoretically have the same ability as someone on a 5a in year 6.

ILTS’s Rationale Provide students with an opportunity to work independently
and create a piece of work over a longer period of time than a ‘traditional’ homework.
Give students the freedom to choose how they will produce their work
Give the more able students the opportunity to challenge themselves and explore a topic independently.
Your daughter will receive one or two ILT’s per term. These will replace the Home Learning Menu for that subject.
