Security/emergency inFormation

established in 1995, the emergency Response team (eRT) was created to assist our tenants and visitors to the Toronto-Dominion Centre (TDC) with round-the-clock safety concerns, as well as emergencies associated with the physical complex. It was the first service of its kind available in high-rise office complexes within the downtown core.

The eRT consists of highly trained professionals whose core expertise involves handling emergency evacuation drills and emergency preparedness, and who provide an extra layer of response in medical emergencies over and above our Fire and Life Safety team. The eRT are also trained and certified as medical responders in First Aid/CPR and AeD (Automated external Defibrillator). The Fire and Life Safety team also conducts tenant education and training sessions such as the Fire evacuation Warden program.

Fire safety, emergency evacuation, medical emergency response and tenant education and communication are the focus and foundation of what the entire eRT and Fire and Life Safety team do each and every day.

TDC’s emergency Response Team (eRT) is on duty 24/7 and trained in the use of First Aid/CPR and Automatic emergency Defibrillators (AeD), prior to the arrival of 911 eMS.

In an emergency situation, follow these important steps:

• Immediatelycall911, then call TDC Security Operations Centre (SOC) at 416-366-7823.

• IfSOChasbeencontactedfirst,follow-upimmediatelywithacallto911.

• To prevent further injury, try not to move the injured person.

Building evacuation alert tones

For your safety, the TD Centre has the second largest integrated fire alarm system in Canada. Centrally monitored at the TDC, 24/7, the system monitors all six towers, including the TDC shopping concourse and all parking areas. The system was recently upgraded to include two distinct alarm tones that require varying responses. each tone is meant to inform and requires a different response from tenants. For your personal safety and that of all TDC tenants, it’s critically important to know these tones and the required actions.

Alert Tones (1 ping tone)

• Indicates there is an alarm condition in the building; however, it DOeSNOT AFFeCT YOUR FLOOR. Stand by and prepare to evacuate.

Evacuation Tones (3 ping tones)

• You need to IMMeDIATeLY eVACUATe the floor via the nearest stairwell.

• Follow the instructions of your Tenant Floor Fire Warden and/or TDC building staff.

In the event of an emergency, knowledge and decisive action may allert people to problems and save lives.
