Introduction and Explanation of SSGWiki

• What is Wiki?– Wiki wiki comes from the Hawaiian term for

'quick' or 'super-fast' ; Wiki-wiki

• What good is a wiki?– A website is a read-only medium, anyone

can edit Wiki– A way to use and access knowledge that is

up-to-date and tended by a community– Easy to use, like Word

• A project truly owned across all SSG

How SSGWiki can improve communication, knowledge retention,

and collaboration between SSG services

• Collaborative documents - brainstorming• Knowledge across all SSG not just tied to

a campus - not just a shared drive• Hate 10,000 emails with great info you’ll

never find again? Easy to search• Communication happens in real time.

Once you save a page, it’s there - history of pages kept

SSG Freecycle

• Open to all SSG Staff who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it.

• One constraint: everything posted must be FREE -- you simply post an offering on the SSG Freecycle page.

• Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself. Simply respond to a posted offer or post a request, and you just might get it. After that, it's up to the giver to decide who receives the gift and to set up a pickup time for passing on the treasure.

• Our main rule: Everything posted must be free, legal, and appropriate for all ages.
