Welcome to the Meatpacking District. A 24-hour neighborhood located on the far west side of Manhattan, bordered by Chelsea to the north and the West Village to the south. In the last 20 years, fashion and graphic designers, architects, artists, restaurateurs, stylists and corporate headquarters have moved in alongside existing meatpacking plants. This evolution has created an incredibly interesting and diverse dynamic that befits the area, already full of contrast.
Take a moment to breathe in this special place and to look around. You’ll see high heels straddle the Belgian block stone streets, marvel at the historical architecture with contemporary structures being built above, and feel the grit of an industrial backbone against the chic of today’s industry. And in this place of storied history, some of the most relevant technology companies are blazing the path for tomorrow.
The Meatpacking District is a world-class destination known for cutting-edge fashion and design, technology, food and hospitality, and art and culture.
The Meatpacking Business Improvement District (BID) is the not-for-profit alliance of the area whose mission is to support the business community and to keep the area clean, safe and beautiful for locals and visitors alike.
