This presentation is an overview. Use both the hardware manual and quick installationguide as the actual reference for installation work.

These are the typical steps of an installation.

The hardware manual also has a flowchart of the process.

Refer to the quick installation guide for brief steps, and the hardware manual fortechnical details.

Prepare for the installation by having the proper tools ready as listed in thehardware manual. These can include: screwdrivers, wire strippers, drill,insulation tester, multimeter, etc.

In bigger frame sizes, special equipment such as a hoist may be needed.

When unpacking the drive, check there are no signs of damage, that thedelivery is complete, and the type designation label is correct.

Select the correct input power cables, motor cables and control cables. In thehardware manual you’ll find the recommended cable types.

Remember to check the safety instructions in the drive manuals. Localregulations are the final norm.

Check the installation site according to the hardware manual. Ensureappropriate cooling. Refer to the hardware manual what types of installationsare possible.

The drive is mounted on the wall with screws. This is illustrated in the quickinstallation guide.

Before connecting the input cable to the drive, check the insulation of input andmotor cables and the motor, according to the instructions in the hardwaremanual. Make sure the motor cables are disconnected from the drive outputterminals.

Measure the insulation resistances of the motor and the motor cable betweeneach phase and the protective earth (PE).

Do not do any voltage tolerance or insulation resistance tests to the drive (e.g.hi-pot or megger).

Connect the input power cables and motor cables according to the quickinstallation guide and hardware manual. The installation procedure depends onthe frame size.

Check with an appropriate tool that the cable tightening torques are correct.

Ensure that the correct fuses are installed in the supply line.

Connect the control cables. Refer to the quick installation guide and hardwaremanual.

Install any optional I/O extensions, fieldbus adapters and pulse encoderinterface modules.

Refer to the corresponding manuals.

Finally, use the Installation checklist in the hardware manual to verify themechanical and electrical installation.
